Hi, looking for 2 bits of advice please.
I'm in the process of making a desk in a study that's attached to the main bedroom. I have 2 small pedestal drawer units (dark grey) and plan to place a long, maple worktop/ desk between them- supported half way with a post.
1. Can anyone recommend a supplier/ timber merchant who could supply the desk top- 250 x 62 cms (approx 2.5 cm depth. I'd need it ready for finishing, so very smooth planed.
2. I'd like some advice on how to finish the surface to protect it from dirt/ spills etc. I want it to remain very pale and have some sort of slight lustre- not varnish though.
I'm wary of having look like a kitchen unit, so I'd prefer wide staves.
Many thanks for your suggestions. No photos at this stage!
