Thank you both @Sonia and @minnie101 for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I have guests over once a month for around 3 nights. I have hooks behind the door for hanging and also bedside tables with draws. I think I also prefer the dressing table option, I guess stool could be a good option instead of a chair. If I have a dressing table with a mirror can I still hang a full length mirror near it on the same wall or would it look odd?

Yes totally agree about price not always being indicative of quality. I would avoid engineered wood (although it looks great) and go for a surface that is MDF wrapped in a veneer. I usually dry myself in the shower and then step out onto the mat so I'm not sure how it would get so wet. Just use an extraction fan linked to the light, open the window if the bathroom has one and leave the door open for a while after using. I don't know what good care for a vanity constitutes but wiping it with a weak cleaning product and then drying it thoroughly should be plenty. Dripping plumbing is more down to a useless plumber or limescale causing tap cartridges to fail. It sounds as though your plumbing connection was leaking under the basin.

Obviously a wall hung unit would show more of the floor so would give the illusion of more space but a floor standing unit would conceal the boxed in pipes, the sink pipes and would give you more storage. A bathroom fitter would be able to fit the unit neatly up against the box. But you would need to choose a unit that can be modified easily.
