This is the second time we have worked with Mia and team. This time we worked with Mia and her Creative Director, Nabil. The result has been frankly extraordinary. The house is stunning, practical and comfortable. It is bold and unique while being highly personal. Mia and team have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all the contemporary and classic products out there. They also have a great sense of how a space will be used in practice. By combining this knowledge and experience with their artistic talent they produce results that would simply be unachievable without them. Just as importantly, they have a real skill for teasing out our preferences during the fun meetings, often assisted by Nabil’s brilliant CAD skills where he whips up a 3D in real time. This process has resulted in a house that is somehow fits our personalities perfectly. Mia and team also take great joy and passion from their work. The studio is a place of happiness and laughter. The whole team is extremely hard working and provide a high level of service. They respond very quickly to questions and always follow through with their commitments. I would recommend them without any hesitation for your project, no matter what scale.

We had a wonderful time working with you and we'd do it again. We learned a lot along the way. First time home buyers & first time home redesigners both; we walked in pretty naïve about everything. I think best review I can give is the project got delivered pretty much on time and at a really great quality despite us learning as we went. I found Mia design via google and found that many of their projects were in a style consistent with my taste. I was a little nervous not having had a personal recommendation but I needn't have been. I was also a slightly concerned that my project wouldn't be significant enough to be of interest to them. Again I needn't have worried as Mia and her team (Nabil, Sue, Holly and Zahid) we keen to be involved in my project. The project consisted of a complete renovation of a two bed two bath flat in Highgate. From our very first meeting I felt welcomed and found that the team had a family feel to it which was ideal for a private residential project such as mine. Nabil was the lead designer and I very much enjoyed working with him. I kept an open mind when presented with proposals and found that nearly all were to my liking, the only issue being the cost of some. Despite my choosing the moderate solutions on most occasions Nabil remained positive and encouraging of my choices. Nabil and the team also helped me select all items of furniture, flooring, lighting, joinery and the kitchen. Nabil's design ideas and styling were fantastic and he and the rest of team were very easy to deal with and were always available to discuss concerns, timings, deliveries etc. Sue became more involved as the project started to get to critical points and her timing spreadsheets really assisted in delivering a project with the timescales I'd hoped for. Sue was also super helpful in assisting on curtains and blinds and generally taking most of my many phone calls. I was fortunate to have a builder I'd worked with before and I was delighted how well Mia's team worked with him. In hindsight the project was really so smooth even if it never quite feels that way when you're in the middle of it everyday for 5 months ! Mia and her team were really helpful and at times went above and beyond (I won't say why as everyone may ask for the same!). The result is just what I'd hoped for and needless to say I'm very pleased that I chose Mia and her team to work with. Daniel

We first got in contact with Mia Karlsson during lockdown and helped us completing a refurb of our 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment in Hampstead over the following 2 years (we split up the work in 2 stages for practical reasons). We are extremely happy with he end-result; this was a complete re-work, incl. floors, ceilings, etc. and the flat has been transformed into a light-filled, modern, and personal home! We had our own design ideas, and team @ Mia Karlsson Interior Design sensitively helped us bringing the project together, providing design inputs, solving technical problems, managing the build (and at the time messy & slow supply chain). We find the bathrooms, incl. the master en-suite a particular success where a small footprint was maximised from a functional perspective whilst giving the impression of space!

We worked with Mia Karlsson Interior Design during the pandemic on a consultancy basis prior to moving into our new home. Mia and her team helped us to bring together our design ideas. We focused mainly on paint colours and decor, furniture and lighting, and general arrangements. In addition, Mia helped guide us to where and how we should be spending our budget to maximise the impact of our work which in itself saved us much more than the cost of her service. Mia was incredibly helpful and we could not be happier with how our home turned out. She pushed us to take risks and try things we would have otherwise not considered without being overbearing or controlling of the project. We could not be happier with how our home turned out. For someone looking for an interior designer to work with them (rather than for them) and is happy to lead their project, Mia and her teams’ consultancy service is a no-brainer. The service allowed us to benefit from the ideas and experience of an award-winning interior designer at a price which we felt was extremely reasonable, not to mention someone who is fun to be around and leaves you excited for the next session. We appointed Mia Karlsson Interior Design to advise us on planning the interior of an extension and also to refresh and update a number of other rooms. We worked closely with their Senior Designer Tarryn who brought her imaginative design ideas and professionalism to the job. Tarryn always listened closely to our ideas and concerns and responded sensitively. In this way we were able to achieve a great overall result. She also worked well with our architect and other professionals. As part of their service MKID were able to order products on our behalf and recommend suppliers and craftsmen who they had used successfully in the past. The MKID team were also helpful at all times where Tarryn or Mia were engaged on other projects. Finally I would add that Tarryn was tireless and endlessly patient in driving us around London to different shops in order that we had the best choices of furniture and fabrics. In summary we recommend Mia Karlsson Interior Design without reservation.

It all started when we wanted to move our TV space to the other end of the room! We found Mia and she transformed several rooms into absolutely beautiful and practical spaces! We had no idea the house could look so amazing! Mia is great to work with, professional, efficient, fun, creative and always reassuring, giving you plenty of input. The team at the studio are all so brilliant too and a great combination, including the building team. Mia can always come up with a solution no matter the problem and can always easily interpret your ideas into fabulous looks that you couldn’t get into words yourself! We contracted Mia to furnish and decorate our London pied-à-terre and we are absolutely thrilled with the outcome! In fact the whole experience was enjoyable. Mia gave us her personal attention for the design brief and really listens, not trying to impose her personal design aesthetic. However, where we needed her to she took over and came up with some excellent solutions. She and her team were stellar in dealing with crises (a warehouse was burnt down and our mattress was delayed but a new and unused substitute was made available for the interim). We first met Mia (and her lovely dog) back in September 2015 just ahead of starting our 2 story extension as we were keen to have a home with a Scandinavian feel but also one which had a WOW factor, was a beautiful space but yet homely. To achieve all this, Mia proved to be a prefect interior partner for interpreting our wishes by guiding and directing us to look at different ideas, colours and design features which we would just never have considered. Mia is a bundle of creative energy, hugely passionate about her work and is hugely knowledgeable about different materials and new concepts. Working with her was not only great fun in the end but we have ended up with a beautiful home thanks to Mia, Joyce and her great team!

We worked with Mia on an overhaul of our apartment. Design options included bathrooms, living room and hallway. Actual work executed included one bathroom, hallway, living room and a large joinery project. Very pleased with end result ! Mia and team had great patience and worked through many (many) options with us. Always cheerful and positive to work with. Although we won't be doing another decorating project for a while we are glad we worked with Mia on this one.

As part of our house refurbishment, when my husband and I were ready to tear our hair out, Mia and her team were able to step in. They produced designs and sourced fixtures and fittings for our bedroom, two bathrooms, utility space and soft furnishings throughout. They were delightful to work with, highly professional and responsive to all our queries and coordinated with the builders and fitters on site to ensure everything was implemented properly. We've been delighted with the results - everything they've done is exactly as we like it and works perfectly with what was already in place. The whole process was much less stressful because of them!

We hired Mia Karlsson Interior Design services to help us sell our Mother in Laws home that had been on the market for over a year with no real interest. The house was new with all the mod cons but lacked the wow factor as my mother in law had moved abroad so had not put much effort into the finishes. Mia came to see the property and advised on what areas to focus on and totally transformed the look and the feel turning it from a house to a home with the use of colour and soft furnishings. We re-marketed the property and it sold within 3 months. Mia and her team were a lot of fun to work with and her expertise and eye for detail was invaluable. I would highly recommend her services.

I contracted Mia's services to design a stylish, feminine, formal but comfortable home office where I could not only work but receive clients and also use as a second lounge. Most of the foundation work was done via Skype as I was an ex-pat and was returning to the UK. I was amazed how accommodating and helpful Mia and the team were. They even sent samples to me via a friend who was coming to visit so we could discuss the fabrics. Of course, the mandate expanded to the whole apartment which was quite difficult given that I already had my furniture and was looking to spruce it up. It all turned out beautifully, and any hick ups, which are inevitable in most projects, were dealt with professionally and calmly. They know how to handle stress! Most of all, the use of colors, fabrics and space were surprising and I even chose fabrics that I normally wouldn't because they made me see in combination with the rest how it would fit. I felt that they also respected my limits in taste and budget and adjusted to them. All in all, a successful and pleasant experience. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Mia and her team again and a special mention and congratulations to Tarryn Manley who was very involved as well and was totally amazing! Well done Mia and team!!

Mia stepped in when our Architect got way to ‘ARCHITECTURAL’!... She advised on making our furniture and decoration items way more ‘us’ and way more real home like! Putting in touch with well priced suppliers and ensuring we got fantastic service. She made our home truly WORK… in comfort and asthetically.

We used Mia’s service for redecorating our house, including refitting two bathrooms and designing a new walk-in wardrobe. We are extremely happy with the result. This is the first time we have used an interior designer and I am certain that we could not have achieved anything close to this result on our own so we would definitely go down this path again in the future. Mia is also fun to work with and sensitive to our tastes. She was aware of our budget limitations so made sure we focused our expenditure on things where it would make the biggest difference. Where we purchased a few extravagant items, this was driven by us rather than her suggestions. She was also willing to work around our busy schedules by holding meetings at the weekends and evenings. I would definitely use her again for future projects.

I had the chance to work for Mia Karlsson Interior Design on several projects, not as client – just as photographer – capturing their work with my camera. Each and every time I have been truly impressed how Mia and her team have interpreted the “genius loci”, blending perfectly the existing with the new. Every project has its own clear identity, although the fresh, classy and sexy touch of MKID is immediately recognisable. Through the lens, I had the opportunity to zoom in the fine details, the quality of the chosen materials and the perfectly bespoke colour palette. I can’t forget to mention that working with Mia and her team is definitely fun and never stressful, as they are able to make everybody feel at ease and pampered in all the stages of the project, from the simplest to the most complex one.

Mia and Amelie were absolutely fantastic, patient and were fully engaged throughout the whole project. We engaged Mia Karlsson Interior Design when we remodelled a space comprising a conservatory, laundry and bathroom. It was a confined area and presented design challenges. The result of the project was a very functional design, beautifully presented. We are very pleased with the result.

Mia and her team member Tarryn were both superb. Not only was their 'eye' fantastic, and we are utterly thrilled with the results, but they were also a total pleasure to deal with throughout. We are not the easiest of clients as we are so busy and a bit indecisive, and they were just consummately lovely and pushed us exactly the right amount at exactly the right time. They were also amazing at understanding our budget and flexing with it. We're so happy with our new flat, I find myself thinking about it all the time and smiling.

We engaged Mia based on the work we saw on-line and she delivered in exactly the way we'd hoped. Our lounge, hall and bedroom were completely redesigned and over the course of the project the quality of the products provided and the standard of work was excellent. Mia and her team have worked on a number of projects for us for our home, from creative design to end finished product. Mia's creativity, vision and attention to detail are what makes her service truely outstanding. She designed the whole of our basement when all we had was an empty space, from the floor plan to all the end furnishings - and it looks amazing! Hi. I initially wasn't going to use a designer for the reconstruction of my Notting Hill basement flat , thinking of course that my own knowledge and ideas would be sufficient to 'do the job' . However , on a good and wise friends recommendation I decided to make contact with Mia Karlsson Design for a 'coffee' and a chat. I am so glad I did. The first thing that struck me about Mia was how she seemed to have the ability to take my ideas and brief on board immediately and show me an array of ideas to spruce them up in ways I couldn't have imagined. I decided that I may have had ideas but she had the talent and trusting in her was indeed the way forward . The results were amazing and I couldn't be happier with how my space has turned out. It is quite simply a lovely place to be. Her uses of colours and especially lighting was the making of it , I am a very happy homeowner. Mia has done an amazing job of updating our house; some rooms required decorating and a completely new plan, other rooms simply required a few finishing touches and final dressing. Whatever Mia and her team did in each room was perfect. We have received so many compliments about the décor. Mia really spent time understanding our family, how we lived and our likes/dislikes. Consequently, we feel we have a beautiful, interesting home we are proud of which reflects us. We were worried by using a designer we would end up with a bland indentikit house, like everyone else's. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Mia has sourced unique, beautiful items from the UK and farther afield. I wanted a design for a transitional kitchen to remodel an old one for my client. They gave me the best service ever at no cost.

I was delighted to work with Mia. I originally invited her and two other interior designers to "pitch" for a basement refurbishment. I ended up selecting Mia because she had the right balance between creativity and practicality, is organised and straighforward in her approach, plus has great charisma. I was not disappointed! Throughtout the process, Mia was excellent. Lots of fabulous ideas and challenged me to be quite bold. We exceeded my original budget only because I chose some very high quality items and materials (which she can source at very competitive rates). The workmen she uses are excellent and trustworthy; the joinery and general building work was of a very high quality. I would recommend Mia and would certainly work with her again.

Mia's experience and flair made all the difference in getting my new flat ready to live in. Overall creative plans were hugely helpful, and she came up with a space re-planning idea I could not have had myself which will be of long-term benefit. Mia and her team provided fantastic interior design consultancy and product procurement during the extension (loft conversion) and complete renovation of my apartment and I can't recommend them highly enough. Initial briefing meetings were both fun and inspiring and opened my mind to a whole range of possibilities I hadn't even considered. They also have access to a huge range of amazing products and providers - from bespoke wall coverings to flooring to structural engineers - all at more competitive prices than available to the public. I had never worked with an interior designer before and I was afraid I would be pressured into spending more money than i wanted to. Working with Mia was actually the complete opposite - she really helped me decide how to spend wisely to get the best out of the project and this allowed me to achieve things i didn't think would be possible. She knows exactly where to find what you need and it's completely your choice whether you want to go for top designers or ikea basics! Mia's taste and experience is second to none and I really appreciated her super clear direction and advice at a time when I was overwhelmed with decisions - I couldn't have done it without her help. Mia and her team are all absolutely lovely and a pleasure to deal with. I cannot speak highly enough of the job Mia did on our house. As background my wife and I had just purchased our dream home where we wanted to raise a family and live for the next 20-30yrs. Our only issue was that we had very different taste and ideas as to how to decorate the different rooms. In stepped Mia who sat with us repeatedly at the weekend, over a period of three months, patiently going through reams of wall paper, books of carpet fabrics and countless books of furniture from which we could then choose what we liked and which she would put together for our approval. On top of that she helped us find a high quality builder who also did a great job and who worked seamlessly with her, taking the pain out of the project totally. We couldn't have been happier with the service we got.

Mia has proven very organised, had beautiful suggestions and did her best to keep up within budget. Our house has been praised a lot after her work and we love living here. Combining styles was not a problem. We think she has done a great job and the service was not pricey.

Mia and her team have done in twice occasions a fantastic job at my house. The conception work was thoughtful and creative, yet respectful of our taste. All curtain fabrics, wallpapers and carpets Mia has found for us were beautiful, and I could not have found them on my own. Overall Mia's advice and help have been priceless and the changes made to our house were absolutely wonderful.

We renovated a three bedroom old flat in Belsize Park with many old features but wanted it to be modern but not losing the heritage. Mia and her team did an excellent job in all respects. She was very good in understanding our wants and taste but also very good in introducing her own ideas and at some instances insisting which all worked towards a better finished product. After having lived in it for a couple years we fully appreciate her attention to detail, souring of good products and access to skilful and reliable subcontractors. She was also enjoyable to work with and her enthusiasm was contagious. Even after about 25 different color schemes not being quiet what we had in mind.

Mia and her team did a fantastic job with a makeover of my home, which included choosing, sourcing and installing furniture, carpets, cushions, throws and other items for a two bedroom flat. I really felt Mia "got me" in terms of what I would like and made excellent, stylish suggestions that I could never have come up with on my own - yet my friends say my home is now "very me" and do not realise I had help until I tell them! Mia has a great eye for what will look cool but is very pragmatic - while she suggested some more expensive "investment" pieces of furniture she kept in mind that I would want to use them in my next property and she often suggested highly affordable items, including ones I sourced myself. She knows the product ranges of many suppliers in great detail and has close relationships with many of then. She also had some cushions, throws and carpets made from scratch which I now love because they are both beautiful and totally unique. She was very fun to work with and together with her team kept the wheels rolling very smoothly, receiving furniture on my behalf and dealing with any supplier issues immediately. I can't recommend her highly enough and look forward to working with her next time I move.
