You could no doubt pay a carpenter to make this for you for a couple of hundred pound plus materials. Oil it yourself to save more cost, plus it's easy to do.

We solved this problem with a Phillips lamp. It has a very low profile, energy saving, etc. It's a great lamp, good light for a dining area, perfect for our low ceilings and doesn't impede the view through to the garden. Just did a quick browse to find the exact name (below) and found that Phillips have a number of low profile pendants to choose from. Hi. It's difficult to do a floor plan without knowing what you want in there however my dining room is 17' deep but with built in cabinets either side off the fire bringing it to just under 15'. You should have plenty of room for up to a 8' rectangular table in the centre of the room. Have console tables or small cabinets either side of the LHS window or a long sideboard (not knowing height of window). Add a small sofa in the bay. You could then have an accent chair in the bottom right corner with a lamp or a small sideboard or whatever. The best thing to do is buy a pad of large cheap paper or use newspaper and cut out templates for everything. That way you can see if you can walk around everything. I'd do the same for the kitchen as you should be able to fit a small table in there even if it's just a bistro.

Well we’ve had a shift around this morning and completely swopped the dining table and sofa - Minnie101 thank you, my husband loved that idea. So the table and chairs are in the sitting room within the bay window, and the sofa is in the kitchen, overlooking the garden. Here’s some pics. It really works well and I know we will now be using that table more as we love to watch tv whilst eating! I’m not sure the traditional Parker Knoll sofa quite goes, but it’s sooo comfy so it will have to do. The cushions are temporary, as I may get some navy’ish ones instead, but if anyone has seen some nice cushions let me know! As always this Houzz community has been amazingly helpful, and it’s great to get different perspectives. Thank you all very much.
