Surely you get stuff - food and debris caught in the small gaps and joins of the parquet - not very hygienic, I'd have thought.

Hi @Laura G Please could you tell me how much clearance space you have from the wall to the dining table? I have a similar layout to yourself that I am building. I was considering a different orinentation but structural engineer/architect wouldnt allow once knocked through so decided it was best to sacrafice the side porch in favour of 1 wall kitchen. I'm going through a bit of a design dilemma at the moment preventing me from finishing the project, but actually everything seems to fit nicely for yourself. Do you have a floor plan you could share please? Here's where mine is currently at Thanks :)

I had a friend with a real marble table……. It had so many layers of protective seals that it no longer looked like marble. But there are alternatives that are better than marble but with the right look. Personally I like ceramic/ porcelain tables. Italians make some of the best porcelain. Although a shade more expensive than plain marble, porcelains have the pattern printed on them meaning you can get a table that realistically looks like a very expensive heavily veined marble without the price tag of the real thing. Furthermore they have great stain and scratch resistance.

Hi Mel, It depends on the size of the room and how many people you want to seat. In general a round or square table seating more than 4 will take up more space in comparison to a standard rectangular table. A good way around this is looking at extendable options (round turning into an oval and square into rectangle) if you only need 4 seats but would like the option of additional as and when needed. Round tables also soften the room slightly + if you have a single leg in the middle, will offer a more flexible seating arrangement. If you're stuck, feel free to send photos/plans so we can advise more or have a look online at tables to see if there are any options you like (this may naturally eliminate one of the two) D
