I'm not doing walls until kitchen in. also waiting a while to replace our table with a slightly bigger one. I've always wanted a decent table. only 3 of us so maybe will use end of it for serving up. in the pics the island looks clear and usable. the reality is it gets covered with all sorts. Im thinking of a mobile unit as could put it against chimney breast some of time. It's a developing idea. I'm reluctant to finalise until we live with the kitchen for a while. so much to think about and I'm an over thinker!

I don't think it will date. I do think that some styles of cabinets will date sooner than others. But different colour island than wall cabinets is a timeless look in my opinion. The green is gorgeous. A safer choice would probably be the darkest blue/black (?) And i like that with the white that's on the right in the photo. The other white has a pink undertone it seems and I expect that to give a problem with wall colours for example.

Hi! Firstly - What a beautiful kitchen design you've gone for. I actually think that the either white or off white would work for the colour of your cabinets but to create a warm, cosy scheme I would opt for the off white to try and pull those darker tones out from the work top. Wall colour is a bit tougher to pick as this depends really on a number of different factors. Kitchens are bathrooms are two rooms in your home that are a real investment so I would collect some paint samples and put them up against the kitchen cabinet and worktop surfaces before you commit. Having said that I do think that bright white would be a little harsh if going for warmer tones. Farrow and Ball have such a broad mix of neutrals that Im sure you'll find a great match! P.s brushed nickel would look amazing with this! Style the kitchen with natural wooden finishes in any styling items such as fruit bowls, stools, chopping boards would add level texture and interest as well! Good luck! Dani

Hi Kate - I think you have so many options with this room and you and your partner's preferences are not mutually exclusive. There's a multitude of ways to play it - dependent on your overall design you could have the grey green on the bottom cabinets with white wall cabinets above, or vice versa. You have all white cabinets and then pick out some features in a grey green paint (something similar to Green Smoke by F&B) maybe your window shutters/window seat and the back of the kitchen door and transom window and/or the alcove cupboard fronts? If you are keeping the dark floor my preference would be to go for lighter worktops, and worktop colour will be a big component of the overall look along with cabinet colour.  To answer your question re feedback from those with these colours/styles. I have the bodarp grey green unit for my bathroom basin with drawers. It's the same finish as the kitchen. I find that the matt finish does show up more finger/splash marks than a glossier finish. They clean up fine and it's not a major issue but might be a consideration for you - I only have two drawers, you are looking at a lot more than that!
