hello guys, I need advice on redecorating this living room please,
Comments (2)The room is a great size. So we have a bit of background, how old is the house (i.e. is the existing decor suited to the age) and which direction does the window face (if it is South facing, you will get loads of natural light so could go darker with your colour scheme if you wanted. If it faces North, you might prefer lighter colours, or go darker/bolder, but make sure you have plenty of lighting accessories. And how much work are you prepared to do - could ceiling rose removal/replacement and removal of textured paint ceiling finish be on your agenda?...See MoreToo many patterns in living room? Comments (13)Wow thanks so much for all of the comments - much appreciated. I think I liked the wallpaper I posted so much that I allowed it to cloud my vision of what would work! I think I am going to stick with painting the walls and putting up some midcentury style pictures. Perhaps when someone eventually spills something on the ottoman I'll get rid of the geometric theme and replace it with Orla Kiely patterns! The larger stem wallpaper is a good idea although having seen a sample I think the pattern feels too big for my living area. I might put some wallpaper up elsewhere....See MoreLiving room colour advice please!
Comments (14)Thank you for all your comments! We will have a good think about the floor: it's a house on a hill so it is the ground floor, just looks high up compared with the houses opposite! Perhaps we could put down wooden flooring which would remove my fear of it being cold. Love the white fireplace surround on the blue wall, and also the blue fireplace surround!!...See MoreUrgent colour advice: open plan living room-kitchen required, please!
Comments (3)It's really hard to have an opinion on a screen............uinfortunately, colours just look different to people as the colours on their screens differ from one another.......does that make sense. I can tell you however, having used Dusted Moss 2 & 3 on many occasions, that it is a lot more green than it looks on your chart above, which looks grey. It has grey tones, but as the name suggests it is a green. Dulux is for sure, lovely paint,. The colour charts however, aren't so accurate and the paint mixing compared to the colour cards is also not that accurate. I always suggest to people to go get colour cards and testers and paint at least an A4 piece of paper with 2 or 3 coats. Move the paper around as the paint changes with the light in differing positions. Probably not what you want to hear, but you can't choose paint from a computer screen and hope for any accuracy at all. I now prefer Valspar ( B&Q ), used to be Crown. The colour matching is phenomenal. The accuracy to the cards is spot on, and the paint is good. I used to be a Dulux everything fan................but since discovering Valspar I have been converted....See Morestephfallon
