Need practical floor tiles
Comments (3)I had the same problems when choosing our kitchen floor - 2 black cats shedding, careless cook (him!) and wanting to extend the floor outside. After long searches, we ended up with these tiles from Porcelanosa, I think they're called Venis Cemento (not sure though, sorry) - http://www.porcelanosa.com/gb/floor-tiles/porcelain-tiles.php They are apparently frost resistant and great at not showing much; I cannot always tell when it's dirty or dusty. I don't know how they behave outside, as the (later) design of our garden asked for larger slabs, so we bought some grey slate from the Mandarin Stone. Anyway, I think grey in general is a great colour for a kitchen floor - it goes with almost everything, doesn't show dust, water stains, etc. (please ignore the mess in our kitchen...)...See Morebathroom tiled shower tray raised floor nightmare
Comments (7)Yes, the floor has been made level with the shower base (a Wedi tray). The shower tray is set as low as it can be. 20mm thick board has been placed on the floor to level it with the shower tray. I'm thinking of removing that board so the floor height will be lower than the shower base - hence the need to create a curb around the shower. Hope this makes sense! Here's a photo looking through the door, once tiled the doorway threshold will be 32 - 35 mm higher than the hallway if I leave the floor as it is....See Morelarge Tile size for small shower room or kitchen floor.

Comments (7)Thankyou everyone. some good options! as for lay out, unfortunately nothing can be changed now as planning is theough with council for windows/doors and our block and beam is laid etc. we also need the utility to kind of act as a ’boot room’ as was said because we need a back door in there. furnishing wise at the bottom of the breakfast bar i am going to have a booth looking out onto garden to sit and look out the bifolds. :). however i do wish id found this page when we were at the designing stage!...See MoreCarolina
