Kitchen table and tall doors

Really love the look of the kitchen - could you please let me know what is finish for the oak that you used? Is it stained, vanished or just natural wax? Many thanks, sandra

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for your lovely comments about the table.

The finish is white oiled oak, which gives a very natural almost unfinished look whilst also offering an excellent seal to protect.

Thanks for comments. Daisy- yes this is an issue we are trying to deal with, ideally we would have 2x tall FF’s but if we convert the to base units, then 4x600 base fridge/freezer units take up more floor space than 2x tall 600 wide FF’s, and will mean that there is not enough floor space for everything else we need in the kitchen! Jonathan - like the plan, however the bottom right hand corner has an opening to a storage area so tv couldn’t go there. The engineering bricks are the least of our worries I think as they are only 100mm deeper than the rest of the wall, so I assume we can just put up some simple 100mm studwork to even out the wall to allow ease of placing kitchen units etc.

In addition to your other post (https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/5762468/built-in-oven-and-hob-type-recommendations-also-island-length-for-hon#24431315) here's my idea. Ignore the roofline as much as possible. Place the boiler in a cabinet with a height that ends where the upper cabinets start. Tall cabinets with fridge freezer and oven are against the other wall, together with a 'coffee niche'. Cabinet with washing machine the same height as the boilet cabinet, assuming you don't have a dryer.

Marpatt is a door manufacturer I supply and they have a true handleless shaker style kitchen on display at their factory in Leicester (visits by appointment which i can arrange) and they can supply full size shaker doors as well but for a very tall shaker door (over 1245mm) it should have a one or two mid rails to stop it from twisting. These are all painted timber doors. Alternatively you can have made to measure vinyl wrap doors (limited colour choice) and these can be made in wide range of door styles (I supply Bella by BA Components). Hi Sandra,

We chose a special Elm veneer for the kitchen units which were bespoke-made by our joiner. The table is the Lowlight table by DK3 which we specified in a white oiled oak finish. I'm sure you could choose a slab of wood at a local timber merchants and have a metalsmith make some legs to work with it. We've done this for clients in the past. Hope this helps!
