Hi there, I personally really love the look of sliding barn doors but they fit in best with certain interior styles (such as rustic), so if you feel it might be out of place in yours maybe it's best not to mix and match. With barn sliding the mechanism upon which the door opens/closes is visible as a bar above it? I've also seen this to be the case in some track bi-passing doors. To illustrate what I mean: Whereas with pocket doors, the mechanism is all hidden as it's entirely integrated into the wall. Overall I think pocket doors tend to be more discreet/less statement making. So I think it all depends on what kind of look you're going for and what will fit in with your interior best!

Hi Kelly, I see that you have not had a reply to your question. So I would like to help, New bi-fold doors and sliding doors have an excellent thermal value. Doors can be made of multiple materials but the best in look, durability is alimininum, with aluminium and double glazed glass zed glass units you will be more than comfortable in the summer and the winter. If you are concerned about the heat coming into the room, for example, if you are south facing, we have a product called thermal glass. We use thermal glass on our roof lights; it is a treated glass that has a tint and reflects heat, the double glazed units stop heat from escaping. I have attached a few pictures of our skylight showing the thermal glass and an example of large skylights and large bifolds, honestly you will not be worried at all with large amounts glass these thermal values. im struggling with lack of space in my hallway and am thinking of changing living room door to sliding. I have enough space on the wall for the door to slide onto but doorway is almost flush with the corner wall. My question is, how much space there need to be on the sliding kit ? can this kit finish flush with doorway and wall and still work? please help
