Need help choosing a color for my damask stencil in the lounge!
Comments (70)I have two to do more, but i've had enough for today, practically all my wall done, i havent taken a picture yet because its a mess on my table and i cant be arsed to tidy up. I have a banging headache from this paint and the white spirit used to clean, have turned off the music and just need to sit in a quiet room for now.... lol I will post a picture when it is tidy and have finished my second frame! Might do it later, or leave it for another night......See MoreJewel coloured lounge help
Comments (0)We’ve got to the point of being able to decorate the lounge. We have one chocolate brown leather sofa which we need to keep and would like to add another sofa in a rich jewel coloured velvet - I had originally thought navy blue but am now thinking perhaps a rich plum / aubergine or teal colour - similar to one of the cushions (bought on a whim in advance of decorating!). I would love to go for a really dark sumptuous cosy look and feel. It’s a north facing room in Edwardian semi and we only use it in the winter so happy to embrace the dark rather than fight against it.We have teal chandelier which we’d also like to keep. Any suggestions on a) navy sofa and then complimentary wall colours or b) go another coloured sofa. Thanks for any ideas in advance....See MoreJewel coloured lounge help
Comments (4)I think all your suggestions will work but I would 100% go for teal, there are some beautiful rich teal coloured velvet sofas around just now that would look amazing. I can totally see brown leather alongside those in the pics below. I would go dark grey on the walls and this will let you be flexible with accents and colour of cushions etc. Something like Farrow and Ball downpipe would look gorgeous with jewel tones....See MoreLarge lounge/ diner wall colour help please.
Comments (7)I'm not a great fan of feature walls, but if that's something YOU like, go for it, it's your house! As for painting, again, I would say, whether it 'should' all be painted the same colour is neither here nor there, do youwant it all the same colour? Or are you keen to differentiate the two areas? Is one area lighter and brighter than the other? Could you perhaps paint the brighter part a darker version of the same colour and vice versa with a lighter paint in the less bright part of the room? What flooring are you going to have? That may influence your choice of all colours. Have a look at pictures on Houzz and work out what you like from those, that may help you make decisions for your decor....See MorePatricia Niven
