Tiny freestanding bath

Hello there! Just needed some advice on our bathroom remodel. It’s not very big, 190cmx180cm but I would love to fit in a freestanding bath. I’ve found one 120L x 65W. Would it look ridiculous? This is the layout we thought of but I’m open to suggestions. Thanks!!

Is this a wet room? I'm not quite sure if that is a shower you are showing between the loo and basin.

But on the bath question, the corner arrangement does mean that there is a lot of dead space behind the bath, it may be much better to have it straight under the window. You could consider a corner WC if it is a very tight fit; those aren't ideal but they do work well when space is at a premium. You could have a wall-hung corner cistern that creates a shelf rather than open dead floor space behind it.

I don't know how practical it would be either? I've only ever seen 1400 baths before, other than Japanese soaking style tubs which are obviously deep. Have you seen it online or in a shop as I might be tempted to try it for comfort! What are the room dimensions? They seem to differ to what you said but can't expand to read them properly

Will it be Ok if your future 15 year old daughter is walking downstairs in pjs to have a shower at 11am on morning because she prefers the shower downstairs? What’s the route to the shower in relation to public space where you are entertaining friends? will guests have to queue to use the loo while she is bathing? We have en-suite with stand alone bath with hand held shower and separate cave shower - luxury by previous owner. Bath rarely used but looks amazing. Our teenagers share main bathroom with shower over bath. As Johnathan says speed is the essence of the game - bath rarely used by eldest only, shower is their preference. Another question is whether you are in forever home, or may sell in the future - bath preferred by families with very small children and many families see altering bathroom to reinstall bath with power shower for adults a game changer due to expense. The answer to your issue must include how your family like to bathe, the future of your home and the position of your downstairs bathroom.

There are no regulations for bath overflows. They were added for insurance purposes. As long as you have a waterproof floor, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Hi Sarah, In the absence of window info, below are some quick’n’dirty images of one possible layout. You do have plenty of space - BUT I strongly urge you to use a quadrant (curved) shower and do the same with the bath, as you don’t really lose any space in either, but make your bathroom much more spacious, with no sharp corners to contend with. You could swap the shower & bath, though it may feel narrower entering the space. If cupboard space is your driver, with careful selection of bath & shower sizes, you could squeeze a midi unit between shower & bath, or use a WC tall storage unit. I will mock that up for you too! We supply a lot of freestanding baths and it's easily the most requested item we get asked about — but it's also the one homeowners most often ask us to swap out at the last minute once they see the space it needs. For those who've actually fitted one in a smaller bathroom: How much clearance did you leave around it, and was it enough in practice? Has cleaning around and behind it been a nuisance? Yes, it would be a wet room too. There was a reason why we had to put the bath in the corner but I’ll have to ask my husband why. Measurements are right, for some reason they show you the external walls as well in the plan. No, I’ve only seen the bath online actually.. might not be very comfy, I agree!

I've not done this to scale, but surely you would be better having a bigger bath to the left, then a slim sink to the right? For the shower, you could have it over the bath and keep it a wet room if you don't want a shower curtain?

I am planning on doing something like this in a 2.1 x 2.5m bathroom btw, but don't think it would quite fit in your space.

Thanks for your comment Jen. Your plan is basically what we have now and it works but I don’t like the WC to be the first thing you see when you walk in :/ nice bathroom btw

Where would the radiator or towel rail go? Is it on the wall over the bath?

Yes. We will have underfloor heating as well.

I have seen a 120 bath, they are only really suitable for children. Could you not move the toilet to the LHS? Then have a full size bath below the window. You could still have a shower above it?

I think you have plenty of room to have what you want.

Free standing bath - separate shower cubicle so that the water is contained. Walled off vanity and toilet area so toilet not seen when you walk in.
Bath can go up to 1750 x 850

It’s perfect for me but I’m quite small myself but my husband fits in too, a bit snug for him! We went for one from Victorian Plumbing but can’t remember which one - I think Turin. We finished the bathroom last year, on,y just got round to put pictures up!
