Hi Steve, Something like this would look great in your hallway. If your budget allows, removing your dado rail will give your hallway a more modern feel, as well as opening you up much to more decoration options. Alternatively, if you use our Dulux Colour Mixing shades, you can get wood paint mixed up in the same colour as that used on your walls, which will give the space a lovely, contemporary feel. For your woodwork, I would suggest opting for a Satinwood finish rather than Gloss. It still has a nice sheen to it and it offers much more durability than you’ll get from a gloss paint. In terms of carpet, it really depends what you want to do with the walls. If you’re keeping your walls beautifully simple like the image above with a soft green such as Dulux English Mist 4, a bold stripe would work really well and would be a great way to add more colour and prints to the space. Alternatively, if you’re going to opt for paint effects, wallpaper or a stand-out feature wall, I would suggest going for a plain carpet that compliments the rest of the space. Don’t think you have to stick to a neutral carpet if you’re going for something plain - using a fresh palette of bright white and Dulux Blue Seduction, with a striking denim coloured carpet, can create a beautiful finish with great impact. It sounds as though you've started with a fairly neutral backdrop, and your throw gives you lots of possibilities. When advising people on choosing colours, I always ask what sort of a feel do you want to create in your room? Do you want a cool, calm, serene scheme, or do you want something loud and vibrant, or warm and cuddly? This will affect the colours you choose in your space. Additionally, you need to consider what woods you have in your room, and any metallics too. Cool colour schemes veer towards the blues and greens, and warm schemes veer towards reds, oranges and yellows. The greater contrast you have between your colours, the more vibrant the room will feel. So let us know what look you're wanting to achieve, and we can take it from there. Hi there, been following your progress with interest. It’s really coming together now. For paint colours I would do as Colourhappy suggested in your other post and paint it all white to begin with. You can get bare plaster paint from diy shops buts it’s basically watered down emulsion. Get the flooring in first as this will have an impact on colours. From there if it looks or feels cold then I’d go for a neutral with a green undertone as I always think this looks good in dark spaces and under artificial light. Off the top of my head F&B shaded white and slightly deeper old white, Little Greene French gray and possibly Acre might look good. Get a few testers tho and remember you can always get them colour matched at Valspar or trade decorating centres. Might not be your bag but i did a little mood board, chairs and furniture in a raw rustic wood would also look equally good.

The floor in the conservatory will be the same as the kitchen and I will probably keep the walls cream in both rooms. But hopefully this gives you an idea of the flow. The dining table is going and we’re actually taking the breakfast bar out and turning it around so it faces the opposite way with an adjoining dining table. At the moment we have a sofa and chair in the conservatory - just deciding whether to have 2 sofas instead. Having a bit of a revamp in the conservatory bricking up the left wall and putting new roof and bifold doors in.
