We’ve been going around in circles for the last couple of years about how to make our kitchen into the large family kitchen diner we’ve dreamt off. We even obtained planning for a large extension but the costs seem astronomical and we’ve recently had our first child so the time isn’t right.

We therefore want to work within our existing space, knocking a wall down between our dining room and kitchen, moving the entrance slightly out into the hall to make use of dead space outside our existing dining room. All possible so far.

The tricky bit comes in with our desire to relocate the kitchen area into the space occupied by the dining room today, housing the oven/hob in the chimney breast. The first builder we’ve had round suggested that whilst getting water and gas to the new kitchen can be achieved, the waste water from the sink and dishwasher would be our challenge. Apparently it needs to have sufficient ‘fall’ (gravity) towards the drains, which are located to the right of the existing kitchen (we live in a semi). We also have a solid concrete floor. Of course, this could be chased to bring in the supply, but I can’t see anyway to get the waste out.

Has anyone else tried this? Any lessons learnt? Any advice? Thank you in advance
