Need help choosing worktops please!
Don’t want wood as it’s a pain to look after and I think there will be too much wood in the room. Was thinking a mid Grey Corrian but now thinking it will all be too matt. I didn’t think it would be so hard to choose a worktop for a 2 tone Kitchen!

Comments (9)Hi, in my opinion, you need for the top a darker, neutral tone to add some contrast with the big amount of white of the doors. You can even go for bit of texture on this top, as it is a good opportunity to warm up the kitchen, very cold at present. There is a wide variety of worktops available at Egger, 38 mm thickness.From them I would suggest Red Brown Leon Slate or Brown Malawi ( with wood grain texture), for a nice, warm but darker top.Valetta Sand or Isodora Beige, might be a second option, too, if you don't like contrasts. Another interesting option would be a texture similar to Corten Steel or Cooper Or, if you feel adventurous and want an element of surprise, you can always try a top on real reclaimed or distressed wood. Comments (8)Thank you everybody for all your help and comments. I did choose a worktop through Wren but decided to buy it elsewhere due to cost and have now changed my mind. Ribena and Jonathan, you do make interesting comments though. The designer seemed to quite proficiently push boxes around on a kitchen grid layout but apart from what was on display, didn’t have a lot of ‘creative’ design suggestions on colour matching. Comments (11)Quick and easy way to get a comparison quote, look up a quote on DIY kitchens... you put in the size choose the worktop, cut, cut outs etc and then it gives you a price there and then. That sounds reasonable to me though. We’re going with a silestone quartz. Has a very subtle marble. You can also order samples from DIY to look at them or do tests re staining etc. There’s also a Houzz story somewhere about different kitchen worktops! :-)...See More- 8 years ago

PRO8 years agoI recently used a white silestone (similar to the one pictured) in a project and it looks fantastic so far (not complete yet) - this would complement your bank of tall units beautifully, it's a stunning material!

8 years agoI would think about the colour, and opt for a grey with an undertone that suits the ammonite as that is the trickier than it working with the blue (getting similar things to work is always harder). Paint some ammonite onto a large flat piece of card or mount board (several coats) and then look at it on the same plane as the worktop. That way will help decide if you need to go darker or lighter.Are there going to be any tiles behind?

I think that recycled glass worktops are stunning, but you do have to take a bit of care, i.e. no hot pans on it.
