I have replace my windows with warm pale gray/green and part rendered. It looks fine to render only he front and/or back. Brick with white windows is a question of personal preference, some think it's classic, I prefer the softer grey as it looks less harsh.

Cedar vs uPVC

The main benefits of using uPVC cladding is that it requires minimal maintenance and its very durable, as well as being a low cost alternative to timber cladding.

Timber cladding however is aesthetically enhanced and provides a textured and organic look.

It may be worth having a look at imitation timber cladding, as they are often hard to tell apart from natural timber cladding - this way you can combine the classical features of timber cladding and the functional and practical purposes of uPVC.

Render

If you are seeking to change the appearance of your house with render and new cladding, you may need to seek planning permission from your councils planning department.

For continuity purposes, we would suggest rendering all elevations of the house, depending on any design constraints.

In many European countries the facade is the only fancy part of the building, with brick used around the rest of the building and stucco or render out front.

I would render first then replace the windows, as that would make the biggest change and the windows and door are fine looking as is.

A cheaper option is to have the upvc windows painted to the colour of your choice. Professional companies can come and spray them and the finish is no different to replacing the windows.

Hi, I would keep the front door the same colour as the windows. I did a mock up for you with Photoshop. Made the window frames the same colour anthracite as the Solidor door. You probably have different window frames, but I still hope it helps you to visualise.

Grey is the way, think outside the box

mines a little bit older but give you a real life example, has blue glass as well, I think I might render the bottom half in either white or Weber stone grey.

I would leave the brick and clad (larch with cedar stain) the other bits. Paint the windows, sifts, fascias and door black. Just done it to back of mine (pic below)

Im in your predicament 4 years later, what dis u decide ? and r u happy with your decision ?

We went for it - the photo is a little further up the feed before we had the drive done and painted the hanging tiles to match. We get lots of comments from passers by that they love it but i'd still love to get it rendered so they really pop rather that it be so dark.
