The rooms look lovely! It would be good to see what else is going in the room. Is the table for the kitchen end? Not sure if the front room is the living or dining area. What style of chairs were you thinking of? Unless you're using a rug personally I prefer the contrast of the walnut table

Thank you all for your suggestion. We are still to buy all our furniture so are flexible. Below is the style of sofas we are looking for not necessarily this colour. I love traditional painted legs dining table but my husband doesn't, so im trying to look for something we both like. We do plan to put a rug under the table. Ideally I wanted the darker coloured table from west elm but all the negative reviews have put me of plus the darker from made.com will be delivered in 16 weeks which is way to long otherwise I would have definitely go for that. attaching a few more tables that we've seen.

Your sofa has a mid century look to it, so you could opt for an oval Knoll table (but they're expensive). I think the John Lewis Calia table is good because the wood is broken up by the black base. You could add chairs in a colour that pick out the terracotta colour in the floor tile. I don't think styles need to match, in fact I prefer things mixed up, it stops it looking generic.

I've tried looking for reviews on the westelm table but can only find one good one on John Lewis, where are you seeing them out of interest? I've got a lighter shade of your kitchen colour, for chairs terracotta looks good against it, as does a cool sage green and a pine green. A grass green may also work as should a burnt orange (but I might opt for a rug with cooler tones if going for orange). I like the idea of the mid century table with the mid century sofa and then opting for something less mid century for chairs. The table also ties in with the sofa legs

Not usually being a fan of uber modern, I surprised myself by really liking the Calia Table from J Lewis.

I thought the one from the Oak superstore was a good colour, but didn't like so much the thin tapered legs.

The third one, really not keen at all, reminds me of a pub picnic bench.

If you like traditional, have you tried looking for Oak refectory tables, they're usually good and chunky. They might be a good compromise between what you like with the painted legs and what your husband likes.
