Depends on your idea of messy! Although, I think honeysuckle tends to be messy by any standards. It is best in a shrub or tree in a wild area of garden. Most important is to consider orientation. Jasmine will need a sheltered South-facing fence, in a mild part of the country. Honeysuckle will tolerate less sun, but it is messy, and does flower better with sunlight. I would recommend clematis armandii - it is evergreen, and a bit tidier, but does have scented flowers, some selections are better ('apple blossom' I think). It will also tolerate a less sunny situation, provided its not too cold or exposed. Trechelospermum Jasminoides is a very attractive neat evergreen climbing shrub with small scented flowers. It does need a warm site with plenty of sun, though.

Hi. I’m no good at doing plans on computer I’m afraid ( I possibly could but it would take me hours) but I did do a little sketch with what I think could work. Just note that it’s not to scale and I’m not a pro, just a hobby of mine. So I’m thinking shed in top right corner then in between greenhouse and shed you could lay paving and have an area for an outdoor fireplace or bbq area. Just think it would be nice to have that area as more of a working yard, somewhere you can potter about (potting bench perhaps). Then I put a corner summerhouse in the left hand corner with path leading from it to the new patio area. The bench and slabs in the middle I would perhaps remove to open the lawn space but you could keep the trees depending on what variety they are, trees can grow very big. Otherwise I think you’ve done a great job so far:). It’s a nice size garden so plenty of possibilities. Here’s my rough sketch and some ideas for outdoor fireplace:

As it’s a house that is in full shade, then the following climbers will, I think, do well - Climbing Hydrangea, Virginia Creeper and Boston Ivy. They all grow by clinging to the wall so don’t need a support structure. The last two have green leaves that turn an amazing red in the autumn before they lose their leaves for the winter. The Hydrangea has glossy green leaves and lovely white flowers in the summer. It also drops its leaves in the autumn. Ivy is evergreen, but can be a bit of a thug, as you know! Honeysuckle copes with shade but will need trellis or support wires to climb up. Once the Boston Ivy and Virginia Creeper get going they grow fast and you will have to get up a ladder and trim the tendrils growing around windows, doors and guttering probably once a year, or pay someone else to do it!
