lampshade/ lighting advice

I am doing the guest bedroom, I have chosen the attached scion mustard curtains and have dulux polished pebble on the walls.

Can you make some suggestions on a light shade to go with curtains or a light fitting please?

Have you decided on other bedroom furniture, bedding etc?

Your paint choice is quite light so I think I would be inclined to pick out the dark grey from the curtains for lamp shades.

Do you have any preference between Gold or chrome/similar tones for light fitting?

ThaNks for ur response. It’s a fairly small room with a mirrored sliding wardrobe. I was thinking dark grey patterned bedding with accents of mustard. Not much else planned for the room.

Update - I went down to my local crafty shop, and they said that the most likely reason for the yellow colour, despite it appearing white in daylight, was that there was probably a yellowish material in between the fabric. They've given me a lampshade kit and I went and bought some white textured cotton, so I'm going to re-fabric the shade. I will upload photos for those who are interested. I have a similar but less obvious problem with my large drum lampshade in the lounge. I might do that one too if this is successful!

Laura, there are many papers with navy and white, for example Patara Ikat by Thibaut. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Thibaut+Patara+Ikat&biw=1516&bih=839&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CDAQ7AlqFQoTCNvLqqPElcgCFQJHGgodN5AMBQ&dpr=0.95#imgrc=k2seesvtL05osM%3A I wouldn't recommend breaking up the walls by painting some dark blue, even in just the recesses. Using an overall pattern will give the space interest without making it too dark. You can introduce elements of copper through cushions, lamps, picture frames, etc. If you don't want to use wallpaper, consider stenciling your walls with navy over off-white and including some metallic copper in the stencil design.

Yes I think so. Someone suggested a grey linen one not long ago that seemed like it would work well. It's a shame you can't get it any bigger.. It looks a little drowned in the corner there.

I think a more modern style of country lamp would look really wonderful here over a seating area or coffee table. Something like this might suit. I wouldn't go with something too 'heavy' or 'antique' looking: the fireplace is a lovely feature unto itself. There are loads of variations of this kind of lamp if this isn't your style. It does matter of course what the lighting in the kitchen looks like as they should compliment each other rather than fight against each other in an open space, but don't need to 'match'. I think this one from John Lewis would work well. My son has it in his grey, navy and mustard bedroom and it makes quite a statement without being too expensive.

Hi Lucie,

Those are gorgeous curtains! I think a warm, earthy toned lampshade would bring out the colours in the fabric. How about a light grey, or a mossy green?

The Cirque from Louis Poulsen brings a lot of the accent colours together in one lampshade.

Lightyears has a great range of lamps, like this Mingus pendant. It comes in several lovely earth tones.

The Caravaggio Matt range is a classic design, also in several warm tones. I think the shades 'warm silk' or 'dark grey' would make a great pairing with the curtains.
