Creaking floor...help

The floor in the upstairs of my house is driving me crazy. The house is about 30 years old and is carpeted upstairs. I'm not sure what is under the carpet but I'm imaging basic floorboards and then chipboard on top? Each room and the landing have really creaking patches of floor which is really irritating. Looking online, it looks like a case of pulling up the carpet and nailing down the loose boards. If I get somebody in to do this, what can I expect to pay and what trade do I need? My husband is quite handy so perhaps we could tackle this ourselves...has anybody done this and do you have any tips? It would be great to hear from anybody who has had this issue and resolved it. Any advice you could share would be appreciated. Thanks!

These are the screws I used. Just found some in the cupboard.

Floors are now all sorted and no more creaking, which I'm so happy about! I wish we'd done it months ago. Thanks for your guidance, I had no idea it would be so straight forward :-)
