I love your tile as well! Glad you're keeping it. What colour were you planning for the walls and vanity? What style of shower curtain?

Thank you! Iike that idea too - just weary of all white with 2 kids and this is the main bath in the house. The vanity is black, and I think you are right - maybe just leave it. If I paint that piece of wood trim I think that will help. Do you think I could bring the color in with a floor rug as well?

I love the tile, too. I'd paint just the wooden edge on your vanity top black and change the knobs for something pretty. Keep it simple, not a fan of the above curtain. Pt is right, bring in color with art. You could do a bright white linen curtain, or choose a bold solid color from the art.

Here are a few shower curtains that I think would look good with the tile. I think you need to go a little bolder with the pattern.

I would check the costs of having a glass panel installed for the tub/shower. Might not be too expensive.

I would remove that carpet and use just a bath mat when using the shower. Have some white towels and if you want, you could get a white shower curtain with soem black

Love your floor tile! So many options. Also really like the white shower curtain edged with black tassels. Another poster suggested a glass panel, as someone who has a glass panel for my tub shower, I can say that they are a total pain. A shower curtain is so much better. Unfortunately the glass panel came with the house and was installed so that I would likely need to replace my tub if I remove the panel so it stays. Luckily my glass panel is in the guest bath where it does not get a lot of use.

This could look so cool w/just a few tweaks.

I'd redo the grout (Grout Renew) w/black. keep the vanity but get a new top.

if you check remnants or could do a pre fab countertop, I'd get a black quartz, or a black/white marble w/new skinks. (check craigslist for leftovers)

get rid of the mini blind and get a woven wood to add some warmth w/all the black and white.

the shower curtain is fine,,,I like the one w/the aqua flower too.

put a little wood shelf over the toilet for a few little potted plants.

paint the trim around your window black.

Or, try something really cool and do a wainscot or board/batten or this shiplap,

halfway up the wall, in black

or wallpaper the window wall

or, get some subway tile and tile around the lower half or take it up the ceiling behind your vanity. speaking of which, you could always be on the lookout for a cool mcm walnut credenza and use that as a vanity. hang a few pendant lights.

That orchid shower curtain is awesome. A subtle pattern that adds color.

A white countertop with the black cabinet would look good. The picture of the white subway tile with grey grout looks good in the picture that printesa showed as did yours with the shiplap.

But that tile is awesome!

The tile is so dominant and geometric that bringing in any "soft" colors and patterns will not work well. You need to stay with strong colors and patterns.

First: remove the black valance (it's too visually heavy) and remove all things that are not black or white.

Pick bright clear accent colors: emerald green? yellow? bright blue? Red? Use it for frames on art, accessories, etc.

Shower curtain - all white, or a black and white stripe, or black dots on white.

Towels - white (they can be bleached) or bright accent color (can't be bleached)

Use a white hotel-style bath mat for bathing. The plain terrycloth ones wash easily and are inexpensive.

Either ignore the window, leaving just the shade, or make a shade for it. Using a second shower curtain for the shade would look good.

Over the towel bar - some slightly abstracted artwork with black, white and the accent colors (Zebras? Black and white cats? Cows? Skunks?)

I agree with lazy_gardens about that tile needing strong colours and patterns.

My first choice for the curtain is all white. Second choice is b&w and I'd consider something like a Dalmatian print. Otherwise, something like a bold green and white leaf print with black curtain rings.

Ikea has an inexpensive set of palm leaf posters if you want to go with green as your accent colour. (I only really like the second print but perhaps the first would look good rotated.)

That tile is a showstopper. Paint the walls bright white and let it be the star!

Wow thank you so much for all of the ideas! I think we have decided to go something very similar to what decoenthusiaste posted with the bright blue. or this picture below. I love that. We will do a white wainscott up to window level. The top of the walls will be a color (bright or subtle - haven't decided yet). The rest will be all black and white. Definitely getting rid of the black window valance and hideous rug lol.

Either deco's or your photo would look amazing. Just remember, those sinks are on pedestals and yours will be on a cabinet. It can change the visual a bit.
