I forgot to mention in my comment that my great uncle was a cabinet maker and came up with a clever solution in his lounger diner. There was a large painting on the wall, Monarch of the glen, if memory serves, with a deep frame. When you looked closely there was a piano hinge on the bottom of the frame. When a catch was released at the top, the painting tilted forward to form a dining table. There were slots at the end for legs to attach and it was big enough to seat six. Behind the painting was a mirror which made the room seem bigger. Admittedly their lounge diner was small, but I always thought it was a clever and attractive way to have a dining table, but only when you needed it. Alas, I have no pictures and Uncle Hugh is no longer with us.

Thank you for everyone's comments, had no idea this thread would prove so popular when I started it. We are plastering this week and we have finally bought most things for the kitchen. I did find some real 'finds' though if anyone is looking. Not sure where you are based, but regarding electrical goods we researched all our own and narrowed down our list, and once we had that we looked online for the best prices for each appliance. Instead of buying from lots of different places we took it to Bentalls, who not only matched, but also cost us less, and beat some online prices with a good 'deal' price they also then will hold on to them until you need them, but if anything goes wrong you have 'bentalls' rather than several online dealers to return items to. RDO Appliances also do this if there is one near you, but i'd advise you to research prices first. Another thing we found was inserts for the kitchens. Through our kitchen supplier these were expensive, bin inserts, pull out drawers, pull out larders, even the pop up sockets, sourced seperately through ebay and online we managed to save quite a lot of money by doing this, so our fitter will still have the right things on the day, but we are not getting the inserts from the supplier. What else..... erm kitchen worktop, unbelievably the exact same worktop, same material, same cut outs etc.. same sizes differed between suppliers by 3k! so do shop around for your quartz and granite.

I'm not sure about either to be honest, sorry. I appreciate the ideas though! I think where i'm struggling is i quite like something gold/marble, i'm just aware I have gone for quite statement pieces so I want everything to effortlessly flow together and look well-styled but not gaudy/mish-mashed. I suppose I know how i want it to feel i.e. luxurious, elegant and feminine rather than how i want it to look, if that makes sense? Some inspiration perhaps: Entry door on the side. Bedroom with ensuite in revamped conservatory. Ensuite is 1 meter wide, but with a shallow basin this could work just fine (example). Bed in this floorplan is 210x150. Sliding doors towards living space, 1m closet on one side, 60cm on other side, next to a countertop with a small sink, kettle/coffeemaker, minifridge (so guests can make their own breakfast, which i think is a must for an airbnb) and bar table.
