Black or anthracite window frames

We are having a dilemma about the windows. We have just started a renovation and extension project on our house. The garage extension on the left of the picture will be enlarged plus a kitchen extension on the back.

We have decided to match the pane pattern of the window frames on the front of the house (currently crittal) using a aluminium heritage crittal window replacement system. The rest of the house (including bifolds on the kitchen/diner) will be aluminium frame but in a modern style. As the title the post says, the dilemma is whether to choose black or anthracite?

I am concerned that anthracite will date and is too blue-ish for the red clay tiles. The stone of the house is Bath stone. Would black be too dark especially on the inside - I know you can have white on the inside but don't like the dual colour thing.

(The front door was an addition that encloses the porch so we will returning that to an inner front door. )

Is antracite blue-ish or am I just imagining it? Husband thinks it won't look blue, just grey. Is black a more classic look?

Are there any other choices? Anthracite can look blue if next to anything warm but that can be a good thing.

Not really, I don't want white. Other non standard RAL choices would add £££ to an already expensive quote, black and anthracite are the same price from our supplier.

Sliding doors are proving very popular at the moment as they can stack to one side and not protrude into the garden space and be easier to move than full set of bi-folds so that would an approximate opening of about 4m with 3 x 1.250m (plus frame ) panel of glass that would all stack in parallel inline. Or you could try panoramic doors they are more versatile as they are detachable from each other and give you more options for you layout at the finish. There a tutorial on you tube ? Do you have building control on these works as I am finding that architects are making us use a lot more steel as in a goal post design for stability, depending on how wide you want to go with the opening?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I am in the process of getting quotes for timber alternative windows (Evolution & Residence 7) these seem like a great compromise. Keeping the existing windows is not an option I want double glazing and we definitely do not want the hassle of repainting every few years! This way we can keep the character and not ace the hassle of maintenance which seems like a win win, the image below is the look I’m really liking at the moment! Minipie, this is a tricky one. The greeney grey would look lovely with your yellow brick or even a more yellowed grey, there are lots of houses where I live with yellow brick and ones with warm grey pale windows look lovely. I recently replaced all of mine and had the same colour inside and out. I went for a warm green grey (F&B Light Grey 17) and the same inside. As most of my neutrals inside are from the same 'hue' family it was ok, but if they had been 'bluer' as you say it could have been tricky. If the tones are the same (how light or dark) and the colours mismatched it is very noticeable. If the colours are different then the tones need to be a bit different too. I would be inclined to make a selection that works with your inside colours first and then actually paint the samples on the outside to see if they work.

I really wanted crittall style and tried my best to get it and work it within the budget but the bifolds worked out just so much cheaper unfortunately :0( The OH is stressed because the whole thing has gone over budget as it is so expanding the doors from 3m to a 6m span increased the cost significantly and meant we have had to cut down on certain luxuries we wanted. Crittall was one of those :0/ But yes, I do love the black and as the kitchen is mostly dark grey I think it will contrast better
