Kitchen Flooring

After Going Back and Forth on wood flooring for our kitchen we have decided NOT to go with wood. To much wood in our kitchen with our dark cabinets. We know nothing about tile. Is all tile grouted? Attached are a few photos of our kitchen. Any suggestions on tile size and color would be most helpful. Thank you so much!

Comments (9)You're the customer so have it how you want. Its more expensive to tile wall to wall which is why lots of kitchens are only tiled up to the legs, but its getting more and more popular to have the kitchen fully tiled before fitting like they do on the continent. When we have a kitchen to fit and its been tiled we lay hardboard over the floor to protect it, so it is an extra small cost. Accidents can happen though like dropping the oven but that could of been an old existing tiled floor that could be chipped and no replacement tiles available. Also its harder for your fitter to install as he has to scribe and seal all your decor panels to the floor when its been tiled is another reason installers prefer it to be tiled afterwards....See MoreKitchen flooring options (floorboards/plywood floor)

Comments (1)Try any carpet shop or fitter, independent if possible, as they often sell sheet vinyl too. I used an independent carpet fitter who brought round books of sheet vinyl and there was a great selection. I chose this pattern for my little bathroom but there are tons of designs. Comments (10)Tbh, I would focus on light, orientation, location (is 1 plot better than the other in terms of parking, outlook etc?) and garden as to what your personal preference is. The house layouts are extremely similar, you can’t change the location or orientation but you can change the kitchen. Have you been given actual kitchen plans? The kitchen feels a little undersized for the house in terms of any tall housing for FF, ovens, larder etc. Assuming the kitchen is 4m max and the sink run has to stay if my maths is correct you could only have a max 150cm island. This could work better than the peninsula though, not keen on where they’ve taken it around the corner. Would there be any flexibility to move the utility sink and recess appliances in the utility wall? That said it’s only my opinion that it’s lacking in space for any tall units!
