Comments (32)Tiles are one way to introduce some pops of colour in your kitchen. If you are worried about the grout discolouring, use epoxy grout which is more resilient to liquid staining. Also, if you use a coloured grout, discolouration will be less noticeable. If you choose textured tiles with rectilinear edges, grout lines are almost invisible. Using tiles can look more traditional compared to glass or stainless steel. The problem with stainless steel is keeping it looking good. Drip marks and grease are instantly noticeable. Glass is less obvious when splashed. They are both more industrial and modern looking. What about using the same material that makes up your worktop as the splashback? Comments (10)Be brave, and go dark! Often people are scared to as they think it makes a room smaller but actually it can have the opposite effect. Blurring the finishing lines of the room can give the illusion of more space, and if the space isn't particularly bright anyway, embrace it! Comments (3)Do you need a backsplash? What do you want from it? Colour, pattern, or just to protect the walls from splashes (the only reason I think makes sense!) I have no backsplash, my sink is against a wall but it's vinyl Matt and it wipes easily. My hob is on island so no backslash needed. If it's just for behind your hob you can use glass, so not obvious. How many different gray and white tiles did you try? Why didn't they work?
This quartz is too busy to add a patterned tile. A crackle would be your best bet to give some variation between tiles without adding a strong pattern.
8 years agoHere's an option that will work for sure with all the colors. It will also let light bounce back. This was the first tuxedo kitchen that I fell in love with!

Can you wait until your counters are in to choose your backsplash? I was tryjng to imagine how white wasn't working but trying to decide on "the" white with only that small countertop sample to check against can't be easy.
I also like the defined edge grey crackle mayflowers and mark_rachel posted. Scrolling through Houzz kitchen photos that featured LG Rococo counters, whites and greys were pretty prominent. For example (although this turned out to be a Silestone Lyra counter. I noticed the cabinets colors):

If you want to post some samples, we can weigh in if that would help. But colorwise, you sound like you're in the ballpark and just need to keep trying until you find the shade you like.
