Apart from the colour of the windows there is their style to consider as well I think.

Have you decided on that yet?

And will you stick to UPVC?

Thanks for your reply. Good point re style. In an ideal world I would put in crittal windows but not affordable! We have really got used to the leaded windows now and were thinking of putting in casement windows without the lead but I am worried that it will spoil the look of the house. Aluminium could be an option maybe but our budget is £10,000 for the whole house and there are 22 windows including French doors to be fitted. Husband not keen on timber and we would only be able to afford softwood on that budget I think.

Our house is pretty unique. There are a few similar houses nearby. But almost all of them have leaded upvc! no wood.

Leaded windows are charming, in my opinion. I was thinking of changing all of our upvc to wood but subsequently changed my mind because of the cost. But as you may know, the blown glass can be replaced for a lot less.

Our current windows were installed in the 80s so they really need replacing. We did think of replacing the glass and painting the upvc frames but it is probably a better idea to invest in new windows.

HI EMILY, I LOVE YOUR HOUSE, I THINK THE WINDOWS WOULD LOOK GORGEOUS IN SAGE GREEN. THERE ARE SOME GOOD PROFESSIONAL COMPANY'S THAT WILL COME OUT AND RE-SPRAY YOUR EXISTING UPVC IN ANY COLOUR OF YOUR CHOICE. THEY PREP THEM FIRST. THEY END UP LOOKING NEW. I WOULD THEN HAVE NEW GLAZING. THE ACTUAL UPVC LASTS FOR YEARS. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO SAVE SOME MONEY.

This is the extension. I suppose you could call it modern. We chose large floor to ceiling windows 1810 x 1800 to take advantage of the lovely view we have. We also have the problem of the house being on a slope so we didn't want French doors out to the garden because we would be so high up on a deck. Patio doors are on the right hand side. Windows are very difficult to choose!!! Thanks for all your advice.

I can't see that 10K could do all those windows to be honest. Have you had any quotes?

Yes we have had quotes for white kommerling upvc £8,300 fitted. Another quote £6000 for white upvc fitted , £8000 for slate and £7,600 for anthracite. This includes the windows for the extension. Haven't got a quote for sage green yet but I would imagine it would be 20% more.

I have seen that new build border oak house with the green windows on pinterest a lot and really like that look. I wonder what colour the windows are?

Does anyone know the ral number for the window colour on the border oak house?

I am going to paint a side window in a green and see what it looks like!

Grey would be a good option, i'm aware it's a popular choice but would go well with your style and external colours. Depending on your budget, I see you stating critical is expensive but another popular choice and cheaper option is Smart Aluminium steel look which we do for clients. I found house painted in Sandtex Chalk Hill, here is an idea of interesting window frames. I think you mentioned the same colour.

I have seen that photo before on pinterest and like the colour and style of the windows. However that style of windows wouldn't work at the back of our house as we have the most lovely open view that we want to take advantage of.

You could try ral no 7044,it looks to me like the colour your thinking of.

I am putting this into a build shortly...if it's possible try and get your hands on a ral chart.

I quite like the windows' colour of the house in celerygirl's photo, I think, but gosh, that's a fussy exterior with so many windows placed seemingly willy nilly.

Not helped by that extensive guttering and the, to my eye, inappropriate porch.

Thank you for your advice. My sister has Origin bi fold doors and I love the quality, however, I don't think our budget would stretch to having aluminium windows!
