Perhaps paint the wall on which the tv is to be mounted a dark colour to tone in with the tv (Farrow & Ball Hague Blue perhaps?) It looks as though your room has enough light to take it. The tv may be better supported on an arm, so it can be angled, rather than flush with the wall. Then buy a complementing colour throw (fold and place on arm of sofa, rather than hiding the whole sofa), a rug with a bolder colour and some cushions (50 x 50 cm can look much nicer than 45 x 45 cm) to help tie in the rest of the room.

Hi Studio 27. Yes I do have plans but they've just been declined as they don't meet fire regs. Sadly this room has to remain separate otherwise the stairs would be opening into the kitchen - and it's a three storey house to add another layer of complication. At best we can have a fire glass partition wall between the kitchen and dining room - or I might be more inclined just to put French doors in. The kitchen will be slightly narrower than the main house - roughly level with the chimney breast. Does that help?

A couple of options:- I'd put the games table in the study as for me personally it has no place in the lounge / dining area and should be out of the way in a separate room. With the games table out of the way, you have more room for seating in the lounge area & the conservatory, which can then be opened up for larger gatherings :-

I actually think that the long sofa and a "hotel lobby vibe" is very cool to have in such a space! You're lucky to enjoy such a space. The fireplace area is formal in layout but thanks to the sofas and lighting is trying to be more modern, while the reading area is more relaxed and old world in its mood. I would suggest to play up the drama instead of going polite and neutral with your home - keep the rugs, layer even more rugs, replace the cream sofas with something more cosy, woven, rich in colour and more classical in shape to carry on the "reading lobby" mood through. In the reading lobby I would place several small coffee and side tables alonside the green sofa - it's long and that's her beauty! Move the yellow armchair closer to the sofa and all the tables. Add lamps for reading and some for more mood. Maybe try placing a sizable ottoman in front of the long sofa, and the armchairs either side of it, for a true lobby vibe?
