Ball Green is a lighter olive maybe try that, or just go with the savage ground walls and add colour with accessories. Or there's always wallpaper for the chimney breast. I had a very similar to F&B Olive in my east facing living room (Crown Fashion for walls Bespoke) I loved it but come the afternoon it could feel dark. However you're only planning to have it on the chimney breast rather the entire wall as I did, so it could well be fine and you could add a mirror to break it up. Does it have to be F&B colours? Dulux Timeless Classics have a chalky finish and Sophisticated Sage is lovely - more of a soft olive than a sage if you ask me :) and there are some lovely warm neutrals in that range too. You could always download the Dulux visualiser app to give you an idea.

Hi jo1989 I couldn’t advise on colours or wallpapers but I can advise on lighting! I would recommend adding in some 5amp sockets for table lamps to give you some cosy eye level lighting. Your ceiling certainly seems high enough for pendant lighting, but you could maybe try using a more soft, contemporary shaded light to really soften up the room - Bover have a nice range which might be suitable. I think that is a very good question, that I was about to set myself! I have read that such a light can make things a bit blue, so it is best to go with the flow, and use bluish tinged colours. Certainly, the room I am sitting in which faces south-east, looks good with its light blue walls. The trouble is, I am not sure that blue is a good friend of food! What do the others out there think?

Rooms like this feel 'foggy', which means flat. There is little light and so no shadows which means no contrast. Options are to go for more saturation, this doesn't mean dark it means colourful. More colour can break through the fog and this tends to work. Also, increase the value contrasts, this means some darks and lights, light furniture, light rugs etc. Finally, warmth, if you lack light then anything white on the walls is grey. Warmer colours are a good way of compnesating for lack of light. Personally, I think sandy colours can be a good starting point.
