Help me pick a master bedroom ceiling light
We recently took down our [outdated, ugly] ceiling fan and want to replace it with just a light.
The number one concern is that it must be bright. Not looking for mood lighting here (we have a dimmer and lamps for that). We live in Canada where it is dark before and after work for a good chunk of the year and we need enough light to be able to distinguish between navy/black/charcoal clothing.
The number two concern is that it look good :) . This is where I'm at a loss. Should I go flush mount? Semi flush mount? Style-wise I lean toward clean and simple, but don't want a boring light either. Simple but fun? What would you pick for this room?

Comments (12)Hi there, difficult to tell too much from the photo, but my guess is it is currently creams and dark browns. Aubergine is a good suggestion, with a hint of olive or (if you're brave!) lime green for a dash of subtle contrast (don't overdo it). Anther palette which works will with these base colours is peacock blue/teal with little splashes of copper and iridescent green. I'd try to get a hint of metallic threads in somewhere, and if it weren't for your feature wallpaper (with which it would clash), I'd add some bold Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired curtains for texture and a touch of drama!...See MoreMaster Bedroom Design Help
Comments (18)regarding guests above the main bedroom, I respectfully disagree; I think bedrooms should be kept private, certainly not joined to a guest's bedroom we do need dimensions to proceed though what if you fitted the office above and closed it off, perhaps with a retractable screen, so you wouldn't disturb the person sleeping. the downside is that you are combining work and relaxation into one area, so it's not the best solution. which means... if there's not enough space above, and I do doubt that there is, rather get a wall of closets in the bedroom, and change there. It would also save the inconvenience of stairs; think of times you forget items and have to go up and down repeatedly, times you're deciding what to pick out and need space to arrange clothing options, times you're packing closets, or exhausted after a long day out, the option of a mezzanine dressing room loses some appeal to me. Another option though, is to have closets in the bedroom for daily clothes of the season, and some above for other seasonal and occasional clothing...See MoreHelp needed... Comments (6)I also can't tell the scale, but would have built in wardrobes either side of the chimney (shrink the bedside tables!), a dressing table in front of the window. I'd keep sepia [?] going, and not add black, the darker option, cause to me it competes with it, and sorta squashes its softness.
This might do that, and add headboard's warmth.... nice photo - you and yours? :)
