final bathroom thoughts

Although it's the last room to get done, I'm trying to get ahead this time so it's less stressful than my en-suite design has been, ha ha.

Plumbing has already been fitted ready for the WC and shower and the plumber and I have confirmed this layout is the best one for this room.

It's 6' x 7'4" (6' shower side)

Tall ceilings 2.75m

As we have a gas meter set into the room from the hallway, we had 200mm box in the room so that is the side that the shower will now go on as we can hide all the pipes and also create some wall storage for the shower. The WC will be wall hung as well and all boxed in/hidden.

I didn't want a bath (see my previous posts!) so we are going for a 1600 x 800w walk in shower. (If someone in future wants to put a bath in then it will be easy to swap it over)

Few things I wondered about...

1) the towel rad - I was going to put this by the shower entrance but the plumber advised me not to as brushing past it may cause burns. But do you think a higher towel wamer (or just shelf) with hooks for towels would be good to the left of the sink? Or shall I leave this space free except towel hooks so noone will bump into it?

2) What size gap should I leave between the sink and the shower tray?

3) what size gap between the screen and end of the shower tray is normal to walk into the shower? I thought 600 would be enough but my plumber said the floor will get wet - and advised me to have a sliding door to make it completely enclosed.

I want to make it as frameless as possible though as it's only a small room but the main bathroom.

4) the window I thought would be better going wide and higher because it's at the side of the house where a garage is so having it higher will let more natural light in. Do you think this will work ok?

Worried it will get in the way of the shower screen support bar that has to go horizontally.

Probably go for a more industrial feel ie vintage wood effect floor tiles in grey/brown tones. Perhaps some black framed sink unit and black taps.... Maybe even some brickwork (sealed of course) so ignore the marble!
