Help with Dining room Decor

Hi I have bought this lighting for the dining room and wanted advise on the dining table and chairs that would complement it. I was thinking marble, but i'm unsure. The light is black and copper.

Haha... your dilemma made me giggle a bit. Sorry. Usually you buy furniture first and a light to go with it, but hey ho... why not go the other way around.

I'd say a rectangular table.

Marble would be good, but industrial - black frame with wooden top could be good too. It would be interesting to know where the dining table is going. Could you share photos of the dining room/area? You can add them to a comment under here. Is it a separate room? Or is it an open plan kitchen dining area? What's on the floor? All things that play a role in choosing furniture.

Haha i know what you mean but this just stood out to me.. it is an open kitchen diner, with grey cupboards and white marble effect tops and lighter grey herringbone floor

wow, thank you so much for all your great ideas!!! Unfortunately I cannot move the table centrally as it would block the way between the kitchen and the stairs/ doorways... I like the ideas of moving the pendant lights right above the table, installing a large mirror on the empty wall..I could actually move the sideboard there and add nice baskets for shoes next to the door . Also add a big painting above the table. Gonna give a few try to see what works! and agree the blind doesnt look good, it was just previously there. Thanks :)

As Jen said painting the short end walls in a warm or dark colour helps to correct the room proportions as it brings the walls in. If you're not keen on that I'd just keep the same colour on all 4. The way you've arranged art is good in separate groups as it's breaking up the length of the walls. Have you considered adding a large mirror/s on the long walls? Normally bringing some of the furniture away from the walls helps so you have something in the midddle of the room, is that a footstool or is it attached to the sofa?! I would also add floor and table lamps (regardless of room dimensions) as it will make the room feel bigger at night if some of those corners are lit. You could also add a rug, horizontal stripes are good but something like a diamond geometric would work too

You might not need to paint yet if you’re feeling stuck, I’d say get some big artwork with some pops of colours like blue/orange and neutrals and stick them on the wall behind the big chairs. Make sure they’re statement size For the table I’d go for something oak or wood just to bring some warmth to the room - also have you considered a round table? That might help soften the shapes there. Then get a big rug underneath too! Kukoon and Dunelm have some really affordable ones. Personally I’d find somewhere else to put the chairs, maybe one in the corner of your room or anywhere else. They crowd the room and look out of place, instead I’d pop a sideboard and put some nice little vases/ books on top for added layers Finally I’d change the light to something more low hanging and maybe wood/brown/earthy tones just to add some wow
