Hi. This is an option that a lot of people are turning to, as way of saving money and a lot of cabinetry is often in good condition; therefore a shame to rip out and start again. There are lots of new products on the market to make the job easier. There are even products/paints that don't require you to prepare the cabinets before hand, but I feel that preparation/priming before painting is the key to a long lasting finish. Hope this helps?

We didn’t have one put behind our sink but we have a boiling water tap and it splutters all the time and I’m forever cleaning the wall. The paint is supposed to be for kitchens but it can only endure so many washes! We will eventually put one on - perhaps a 12” glass one so the dark paint on the walls will show through. You could consider tiling a couple of rows or get solid colours ie pure white if your sink wall is only ever going to be white.

Do you need a backsplash? What do you want from it? Colour, pattern, or just to protect the walls from splashes (the only reason I think makes sense!) I have no backsplash, my sink is against a wall but it's vinyl Matt and it wipes easily. My hob is on island so no backslash needed. If it's just for behind your hob you can use glass, so not obvious. I would suggest you wait til your kitchen units/worktop/floor is all fitted before deciding, it makes it easier!

Thank you both for responding. I really appreciate it Sonia Im not sure abut a very pale colour especially on the island which is really dark grey. I think it would be high maintenqnce to keep looking clean and a bit too much of a contrast? If you have found any similar I would love to see. I have looked but nothing that grabs me Marylee I put the worktop sample upside down sorry! I know what you mean re more wood though I have seen lots of examples where people have done it successfully. I guess it would have to match exactly. It's giving me such a headache!!
