Empty corner space in living room
Comments (22)Thanks everyone, some great ideas here. I think I'm going to go for a big modern lamp, although the idea of a Tiffany lamp has me thinking. Adding a bold bit of colour. I won't go for a table as I think I've got too much oak and furniture in the room. Had looked at a corner unit and there are some fantastic ones around. But again it's another piece of furniture. I'm not discounting the plant idea either but will decide in the next few days. It's just strange having two sofas instead of the corner unit. I'm going to start by taking down the curtains and getting lighter ones. Will post a picture when I've finished. Thanks for all your input, it's helped a great deal. Comments (16)Thanks Kitchen Republic! We did a couple of like that in our days of house building, but the support had to be under the join. However i'm sure the engineer knew what he was doing when he did the calcs! I wasn't confused over the pipe, i think that was Tanya. Still think it would have been great to have two sets of doors with one supporting column so that you can open out and see the whole garden, then continue the floor height outside for that inside / outside feel. Or, have had the plan the other way around, so that the bi-folds were on the 'living' side and the window in the kitchen, for a view straight through on the living side front to back. However, the window position where it is offers a great little corner for a seating area as per the Kitchen planner's picture. In answer to the original question:- Firstly check with Building Control, the window is in a kitchen and may have to open to be certified., or check with FENSA, ( or your glazing company, as they should know ). Secondly, have a 'pivot' window. This then does open, but is the single, unobstructed pane of glass that you would like!...See MoreL Shaped Kitchen/Lounge/Dining Room. Comments (3)I look at your pics and am not seeing your kitchen as disproportionately small. I do see that some rethinking of the shower/utility is needed to enable the removal of the entry to the shower room from the living zone. If the utility sink could be relocated, that wall could be an entry point. Using a slider would mean minimizing the space needed for a door, and would still allow for a cupboard there if you wanted. If you are feeling the kitchen needs some adjustment would an island, with access to storage cupboards on both sides, be worth considering? Comments (8)Hello, I would firstly bring that space together and frame your dining area by choosing a single colour, personally I'd carry that blue across the 3 walls, but you could take the taupe on to the blue wall instead. I would then follow Fran's advice but I'd purchase a much wider sideboard (in black) and position it below the pictures... and as she mentioned rotate your dining table so it runs parallel to the sideboard. I'd put a mirror above the sideboard, and put the pictures where you have your sideboard currently. I would also purchase a new pendant light that hangs much lower over the dining table to create atmosphere when dining at the table, e.g. https://uk.homary.com/lditem/modern-gold-glass-globe-led-kitchen-island-light-8light-with-adjustable-cables-38036.html I hope that helps!
