Think F and B Railings is a miracle colour for my house! I think why we all seem to like Farrow and Ball is because they edit their colour ranges so well perhaps??

Hi Emily. The halls looks fab! You've picked some great art too, I may pinch a couple! I don't know whether I would pick a predominant colour to unite? i've just added a few but I think portrait of a man looks good in a brass frame and maybe another one of your darker pieces? I also like portraits just on canvas. I've attached another pic as I also like an oval frame to break up the gallery or in this case round!

Tbh I’m surprised at how many wonderful friends mages are available, and whilst they are of course not real I think a print will be good enough to show the strong images, really hope I pick some good ones! And thanks Rachel, me loves dark and moody too, have had these ibride ones for a while. :)

Ahh I like dogs better than puppies but puppies are so so cute! And your lab was scrumptious:) my big one is leant on me sulking since I’ve stopped him scratching whilst the little one is cuddled at my feet. And my daughter is the other side and she’s put a Christmas cheesy film on so at this moment life is good! :)

Love the look! I remember the dark purple and liked that, but this looks very sophisticated. The lovely screen suggests something oriental, but my first thought was also to add some portraits.

It looks fabulous, love the glossy ceiling.

That hall is beautiful. Have you thought about pics that are very contrasty in terms of dark and light like Joseph Wright, Caravaggio, Rembrandt or Baglione? They would look amazing in there in gold frames.

Thanks :) and that’s the sort of thing I’ve been considering. For example I could make the pattern of frames and mounts part of the display by having them uniform and choosing images that are almost monochrome. There are lots of sky or sea scapes or portraits to choose from that are almost monochrome. The other thought was to buy a large size print and cut down to use just a portion of it so it’s “disguised” and just being used for its light and dark contrasts. But there are so many images that are really amazing that I wonder if a should just pick one for each of the walls. ?? Will let the thoughts percolate for a while I think. And when I fo something will post back. At one point I was thinking of trying to make my own Japanese Enso symbol. Part of its significance is practise making the drawer of it better I believe. Sometimes they draw it with a big calligraphy brush and I saw on a tv program a Japanese artist using a brush that was as big as a mop!

Also, I just remembered another idea I had which was to glue images to mdf boards and then go over the top with varnish so there would be no frame. Plus I do like the light “catching”something which is what would happen if you varnished something. Got lots of ideas which is often my problem because then I procrastinate weighing them up!

Sorry but as I’m quite into my art I find it hard to advise as it so personal, one thing I would do is possibly mix and match the style of frame, I love the super ornate gold frames mixed with very contemporary.

Yes it is personal isn’t it Beano. I wouldn’t say I was into art but I like looking at it or anything else that’s intriguing or beautiful. For instance I don’t love any individual art pieces enough to hang it if it doesn’t enhance the space. And I think s real art lover would??
Funny the nude on the green background is much more naked than your pieces we discussed last month, but we wouldn’t feel the need to debate whether we should hang it?

As much as I love art I would never hang anything I didn’t like no matter how much a ‘master’ other thought it was :-) Yep, the nude on the green canvas is a non debate comparing it to my piece (which I just ordered, along with 9 other pieces :-) ) what ever you pic I’m sure it will look great! Can’t wait to see them hung :-)

Have you thought of what way to hag your pics? Chains either straight or triangulate would look so well with the colour and panelling

No probs, the chains are a feature in themselves! Your hall is so suited to them, silver or brass would look sooo good, leaning toward brass.
