new dining table

Please help me choose a new dining table. We are a family of four with two young kids and therefore need to keep the two high chairs. We’d like to be able to sit 8 people at a squeeze for big dinners, and four people comfortably every day. It needs to be hard wearing as the kids will end up bashing their forks into it at some point. We are not redecorating so also has to suit the existing open plan space. Thank you for your recommendations!

Comments (4)If you're wanting a traditional look then I'd go for a dark table. You could look at getting an antique table and adding modern upholstered chairs. Comments (4)Re your lights, i don't think they have to match perfectly, in the kitchen they will probably need to be shorter than the one over the dining table. If you go for coloured glass to compliment the colour of the table legs and chairs, then you can go for different styles / types, but by sticking to the same material ( Glass ) they will still complement each other. Also, get rid of the red toaster and kettle, change them for cream as they don't go with anything else. All little accessories should go well together ! LM, yes you’re also right, maybe just a cheap option is the best way to go until the kids are old enough to be careful and then later we can get matching chairs too.
We love the layout of the house, it works very well for us. We bought the house because of its location and the kitchen/dining/living space. Here are a few more pics...
The main negative point for us is the lack of utility room (at the moment, we have space to extend and hope the start the project next year), the washing machine and dishwasher are very noisy when trying to watch TV in the evening so I’m my opinion moving the washing machine out and getting a quieter dishwasher are essential. We also have a downstairs playroom which really helps to keep the main living area a little tidier as the kids have their own space to mess up.
