Hit me with your best ideas of how to hide a TV in an open plan space!

Here’s some ideas (click photos to enlarge). Depends wether you want it wall mounted or freestanding but you could hide it behind sliding or panel doors, have a pop up lift inside a cabinet or even flip top coffee table.
@Proper, we appreciate that your product may be relevant but if you think that then please say why because your comments (or should I say image) comes across as blatant advertising which is not what the discussions section of Houzz is about.

Dark coloured shelving unit with the TV in one of the compartments and books, photos etc in the others. The TV is not hidden as such but blends in very well with the shelves so doesn’t stand out, your eye is drawn to the accessories around it instead.

Or, one of the clever new TVs that looks like a mirror or piece of art when it’s off... Trouble with those however is that a normal mirror or artwork height is usually too high up for a TV.

Hi, To answer a couple of your questions. With a picture frame or mirror infront of a TV, there is a mechanism that moves the picture out of the way. The picture can move left or right, up or down. There are also versions that split the picture so that it goes both left and right. It is also possible to build a custom furniture unit below the TV to allow the picture to drop into this. One company that I've used that make these products is Future Automation. The quality of their products is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. They also make a lift mechanism that will allow the TV to be hidden completely under the bed : ) Under bed lift.

The key to this setup is whether the viewing angle for the TV works. For us this resulted in a slightly higher than normal viewing height, but one which was acceptable. This depends on: 1. Eye height of whoever will be sitting on your sofa facing the TV 2. Height of the back of the seating facing your sofa 3. Distances between viewer and chair and between chair and TV 4. Size of your TV The above will determine what height to set your TV so that the bottom of the TV is visible past the chair. There's a lot to think about actually. E.g. (a) chairbacks too tall will lead to the TV placement being too high, which would make it uncomfortable to see the top of the screen. So don't choose high wingback chesterfields. (b) Assuming your viewing height is above the chairback height, then the greater the distance from the chairback to the TV, the lower the TV can go, which usually would be closer to the ideal viewing height (c) shorter people will have different viewing heights, so what works for you might not work for others, or might result in the TV not being fully visible if laying down, for example So you need to think carefully what works for your room and your furniture plus TV

Hi Pavan, hiding TVs is the core of our business. Most of our products are wall mounted. Depending on what the space is, I'm sure we can find a solution. We have even done entire walls of glass with hidden TVs in some of the panels. I guess it all depends on what the space actually is.

Here’s an example of what minipie mentioned and yes it’s hung too high really for a TV.

I don't see see why you couldn’t hang it lower though, when combined with other, real, artwork. f.i. like in a ‘gallery’ style.
