I love your style. If you are after industrial, geometric style then you do great. With the minimalist style if I was you I would ask myself e.g.: How many chairs I have got in the dining room and why? Answer: because I am having bigger family, or friends around, (or simply) I really like that table with that amount of the chairs. That is all great. Now - how many lights I have got in the dining room and why? Answer: because I don't know what else to put there or where else to put the lights and I like them. OK, do you really like it? If yes, leave it there, but if you feel like there is something not quite right about it, like light on the table while there is light from the ceiling, take one out (of course the ceiling light is absolutely gorgeous). As minimalist I wouldn't want anything which doesn't do any purpose, so dry flowers would go all out of my house. In your case I would use on the table long tray of succulent. It will make the room feel fresh (instead of dry). Or if you like fruit, I would put a large probably metal, glass, or porcelain bowl with fruit on in (avoid wooden container on wooden table). Very large rug under the table would soften the feel too, but if you prefer dining area without rug a have rug by the sofa (which that would be my choice) I I would put a large, textured, but simple tapestry on the wall and maybe large clock on the opposite wallpapered wall. In any room I would avoid flowers in the vase and instead I would get nice, large indoor plants, which are easy to look after (they are not that expensive too and make the home feel so fresh and alive/living.

Whilst I recognise there's a few tradespeople on here bemoaning fussy clients I have to say my biggest regrets when renovating my house was not being specific enough with trades! We had an electrician put in an extra light switch in the hall to control both the downstairs and upstairs lighting. He put it in a good 10-15cm lower than the other switch further along the same wall which looked completely ridiculous. Made him move it in line with the other one much to his annoyance. Another similar incident was with a vertical column rad for the kitchen - whilst I was specific enough this time to ask it be centered to the wall it was on, he installed it much higher than needed with about 30cm of pipe sticking out the bottom! It would have looked much better in line with the doorframe adjacent. Had to learn to live with that one. We had engineered wood floors put in upstairs - the fitter used the shortest wall in the smallest room to take a plumbline from. When it came into the hall it was obviously on a complete wonk. By this point I'd gotten a bit better at speaking up and ensuring we actually got what was needed (and paid for!). He had to take it up and re-lay using the hall as the plumbline. Looked so much better but he was extremely annoyed! After all this I learned to use masking tape to direct exactly where pipes/light switches/trim should be fitted so there was no room for 'interpretation'. I also forced myself to speak up more and advocate for what I really wanted. That said I'm a designer by trade so I generally know what I want and how to make it look good but was definitely a bit too shy to contradict trades in the beginning!

Sounds fine to me. You could always get a nice rug to cosy up the sitting room and carpeted stairs are still very popular. Some people paint their stairs. My kitchen is slate effect porcelein tiles, sitting room and hall is rustic oak laminate with a Persian rug in the sitting room. My stairs are carpeted. That’s variety for you!

It's not impossible to fix it's just expensive and time consuming. You will need an electrician to remove the spots you do not want and make it safe as I am sure you do not want blanks covering the previous spotlights positions. Once it is safe you will need to have the holes covered with a circle of plasterboard attached to a batten placed across the hole on the inside. Then filler or plaster depending on what's required and repaint. I hope this helps. If in doubt call a professional to assess the situation. I once replaced large spotlights with smaller ones but in the same position so I know how tricky it is. If it really bothers you the next step is a new ceiling board and start from scratch with your sparky about where to place the spotlights. I'm not sure what is the recommended distance between them but ours are about every 2m in each direction and it works well.
