kitchen tiles - help not sure what to choose!
I initially wanted wood to make the room feel warm with natural materials. However it’s difficult to match wood to exactly the original floorboards in our hallway. I found one tile which I like. However, worried it’s too busy. I’ve attached some photos of kitchens I like and using for inspiration!

7 years agoThe tile you like is gorgeous, but more suitable for a bathroom or hall. I think it is too busy for a kitchen personally. Funnily enough, the pics of kitchens you like all have quite plain floors! I think a simple large format porcelein tile that mimics a stone finish would be better, and then there is no need to match it with the wooden floor in the hall. i also like wood effect porcelein tiles but then they may clash with the hallway?

Are you hoping to achieve a certain look? What colour are the walls? Which style of tile are you considering, and what accessories (lighting, for example) have you chosen? Comments (2)Hi Mary Choosing floor tiles can be quite daunting as there are so many styles to choose from these days. Here are a few things you might like to consider. Size- go for as large as possible, this will help make a smaller space look bigger. What are your floor dimensions? Style- What style are your units and also the rest of your house for that matter? There are tiles which look like stone, concrete, slate, think about which style would suit your house best. Colour- there are some good grey/taupe options around which would work very well with gloss white units. Work tops - have you chosen them and if so what colour are they. Cleaning - if you have a family/animals I would suggest going for something with a slight texture/pattern to it. They won't show the dirt so much. The world is your oyster really. Comments (9)Well further to my earlier comments I cannot get my husband to agree on a neutral scheme for the tiles on our utility room and kitchens (units all light grey with a dark grey island) and white sparkle quartz worktops. I was looking at Chevrons from the Equipe Range that come in Dark Grey/Light Grey/Black/Griege and some pastels. Hubby prefers colour, green or blues and I want neurtals so can add pops of colour in the blinds and curtains in the areas adjoining the kitchen (dining/snug sitting room), also dining chairs, rug etc. It makes my head go crazy trying to visualise coloured wall tiles in all of this (perhaps apart from the splash back around the cooker area). Has anyone done this successfully with coloured tiles (I think patterns too much). I thought the chevrons with a different colour grout (dark grey tile/white grout etc) looked good, as below. 7 years agoI like the tile, but I also like large format porcelain tiles too. I would personally go for something really individual and timeless. I have very matt, unglazed porcelain tiles in my kitchen and I like them, but I LOVE my porcelain patterned tiles in my bathroom. Here is a kitchen with patterned tiles and dark units, just out of interest.

7 years agoI don't think you necessarily need to match the wood if that's what you want, maybe consider a pattern? I've got this design but in oak and walnut and then another room is just walnut planks. You could maybe try a chevron, it should be easy to find something to complement colour wise ? You can also get aged/distressed engineered wood which I assume (!) are available in parquet sizes if you wanted that look
