By slate unit island I presume you mean the colour slate as on your swatch? I like handless, white and marble and even adding the grey for the island fascias would look nice. I’m just not a tile person. Keeping things streamlined by having handleless doors and then adding tiles doesn’t gel for me. Splashback behind hob (unless it’s in the island) and upstands.

I think I'd go for all slate with the marble including marble splashback. The whites aren't really working on my screen with the marble unless there's another choice of white?

I also like all white with a herringbone floor too when dressed. The marble does look slightly better once the tile is out of the equation but is it worth getting more marble worktop samples? Would also be good to see pics in daylight and try positioning the unit and worktop as they will be ie vertical unit and horizontal worktop

You need to look at all of the samples in situ because the light is the boss as they say. Colours change dramatically in different lights so you need to look at the samples in the correct positions in the room, ideally. I don't believe there are rules for handleless kitchens, it just needs to work.

I also like a rustic, glazed tile.

I take it these are all different marbles based on the veining?! The 3rd one works on my screen and potentially the 2nd but not the other 2. Could you try them all at home?

The thing with posting photos in a thread is that they sometimes turn up in a different sequence, depending on what device you use. For me the 2nd and 3rd work too. Hoping that we're talking about the same photos :-)

No, for me, it's the one with the hand of those two, but not the one with the three door samples. The other one is the photo near the window. That marble seems to work with the white. And I do like those strong veins too. Would also be gorgeous with the darkest grey doors.

out of interest, is it actual marble that you're having as your worktops or a marble coloured quartz or dekton. not sure i'd use real marble in a kitchen out of all the solid surfaces available as its not as durable/hard as something like granite, more vulnarable to acidic foods and liquids, needs more maintenance ie sealing and more prone to scratching and chipping.

a handless kitchen, in the top pictures, is one where the handle is a J profile groove at the top of the door for your fingers (usually called handleless) to fit into and then to add more confusion there's also true handleless, this is popular with the german look kitchens with a rail fitted to the cabinets behind the doors and drawers for your fingers to fit to open the doors.
