In our new kitchen, traditional look, the cabinets will have brass handles. The sink is belfast type. I would love a brass/traditional colour tap, not chrome, but at the same time for functionality it to be a mixer pull out one. I can't find one! Any ideas? Thanks

Go for the smaller size drawers and get a laminate work top cut to size. Rather than hack the IKEA drawers and the work top. The drawers can also be wall hung rather than freestanding, to achieve the desk height you're after. I would also choose a darker work top to disguise pen and pencil marks from the kids. For my kids playroom, I used Matt granite effect laminate and cut down chrome breakfast bar legs from B&Q and IKEA filing cabinets underneath. Within a week the kids managed to get red Sharpie on it.

I am from the school that a handle is a handle whether on a drawer or door. But picking the right one would make all the difference. Take a look on the Hafele website. They have 1000s but you have to buy through a trader. They’ll tell you which one is local. Sometimes Screwfix and Toolstation sell their priducts.
