What to put around hob, shelves, cabinets, or box shelves?
Comments (1)I think the answer is, it depends... On what sort of cooking you do; how much pain you feel if you see a grease spot; what sort of things you want to put on the shelf and whether you will replace them often. Of course, you could just put glass doors, although the effect won't be the same. I applaud your choice of matt cabinet finish - super shiny finishes are such a pain to keep looking good....See Morehandles for modern shaker style kitchen
Comments (9)Long handles could add a really modern twist! Traditional a Shaker Kitchen utilise cup handles and door knobs, but a twist is always welcome. These are some of the handles we've used: https://www.bathbespoke.co.uk/kitchens/shaker-kitchens/handles/...See Morekitchen unit style
Comments (10)If you're looking at the J profile handleless door then make sure you get a painted and lacquered 22mm thick door and not an inferior vinyl wrapped door. The differences are the painted door has a deep J profile which you can get your fingers in and open the appliance doors easily. Also you can now have a d/washer that is push/touch open doors, i know Bosch make one. A vinyl wrapped door due to manufacturing limitations has a very shallow profile and you can't get your fingers into the groove for d/washers and fr/frz to open easily. There are a few cut and edged deep J profile vinyl doors on the market now but tbh the finish of the edging around the J profile isn't the best. As for the true handleless style as previously stated more expensive to produce, more fiddly to install (more expensive), limited choice of accessories and unit sizes unlikely to find any curved doors to suit and you have to make sure any appliances will fit underneath the handle rail. An independant supplier would be able to offer more colour choices for the handle rail than one of the sheds as there's plenty of different colours on the market....See MoreKitchen Drawers
Comments (7)We went for drawers in our French home and find them so much more accessible than cupboards. Also, you never "lose" stuff at the back, like I do with cupboards. You can have drawers within drawers, to give a clean, uniform look of just two doors deep all round, whilst having the convenience of shallow drawers for smaller items. Plan carefully about what you want to store and where that needs to be relative to your oven, hob, sink, etc. The drawer sliders are very strong, so wide drawers are not a problem. Under the sink we have a deep drawer that holds waste bins, this is opened with a foot pedal! Genius when you have messy hands from cleaning and filleting fish! (or any other food prep) Don't bother with plate dividers in the drawers, the plates sit in stacks and do not move about. Dividers just waste your space. We kept a couple of cupboards for tall things such as cereal boxes. The attached photo is pre tiling & decorating and I don't have any showing drawer interiors. Sadly we will not be back there until late March. We love the drawers kitchen in France so much that we will be renewing our UK kitchen to all drawers soon....See MoreMonica
