Thanks Victoria. We’re 5’5 and 5’9 so I guess it would be ok? Can you remember what your clearance was? I know I could go for a flush one but as I’ve had to give up my antique brass fittings I’m not keen to let go of the brushed gold ones I’ve found!

200cm or 6ft 6" is just about enough........I'm 6ft 3" so that would only give me three inches in which to put my hands over my head and wash my hair ( not great ), but I guess if you're a lot shorter then it will be fine. If you ever sell your house and the new couple are taller, they can always change the fitting to suit. But, for now if it suits you go for it.

Hugh, I'd only considered standing under it, I guess hair washing would be somewhat tricky! We keep changing our minds as to whether to move or not so I suppose other people are on my mind although if they're really tall you can wipe out our basement appealing to them anyway! My husband's tall friend painted the ceiling on his knees!

We raised our bathroom floor and the shower is right under the pitched roof side of the room. I was worried at the time about not having enough clearance but until this post I had forgotten about it. It's 2.05m from the top of the tray to the shower head and i'm 189cm tall

Thanks again too Victoria and Martin, I'm definitely feeling more comfortable about it now. it's annoying as the rest of the house has very high ceilings but this "room" was originally another corridor to the bedroom which sits under a recessed flat roof and there's all sorts of strange things going on with boxing in of plumbing including the ceiling from what I can gather!

But you said 20cm from the ceiling leaves 200cm for standing beneath. and the shower floor is a foot lower than the rest? So am I right that the height in the rest of the space is just 190cm? (220-30)

Hi Najeebah, the height where the shower is ATM is c255 so would become 220 in line with the rest of the room if I elimate the step. Just thinking after posting that I've stayed in a few hotels where the shower hasn't actually been that high even for me so those 6ft over would struggle!

As I've got such great commenters on here :) can I get your thoughts on something else please (this room is proving somewhat problematic!).

the room is really narrow so I'm looking at this concrete sink, albeit a bit bigger than shown, which will sit on a steel vanity I'm having made (although the basin will also be wall supported). The basin is 350mm deep however the taps I've found that are in budget project 200mm. What are your thoughts both aesthetically and practically? Ideally I think the tap should probably sit in the middle of the sloped part.

You definitely need the shorter projection taps. The smallest one i've found so far is the Crosswater MPRO Wall mounted basin mixer tap in brass which comes with a 140mm projection, so just less than half your basin, which is ideal. These are from the Tap Warehouse.

A lot of the little sinks like that are built with Pillar taps in mind, which would sit on the large space to the right and hang over to the left, thus not needing a specifically short spout.

This basin is specifically designed for wall taps although presumably you could add deck mounted ones although I must admit I prefer wall mounted. Back to the drawing board or raise my budget :(

Hi Victoria. I would agree, think it would spoil the design. I can't find my design photo but it will sit on something like this but with steel panels either end from the shelf up and half a towel rail at the front and just straight feet.
