Best treatment for 2 big windows
Comments (19)Hi Pauline the best and only solution for black out is to install blackout lined curtains. Silent Gliss Wave tracks will look good but are expensive and the stack back ( when the curtains are open ) is not as efficient as with other heading styles. The most cost effective hanging system is for a standard track with inverted pleat heading. Other hanging system which is much more cost effective is Distinction pole which is neat and contemporary looking. Dont be tempted with any sort of blinds on these types of windows. Roller blinds will become unbalanced very quickly with the air movement with the door open; you get scuff / dirt marks on the base of the blind when it is down; roman blinds will be huge expanses of flat fabric, slow to lift up and with a big stack at the top. Any other cassette style blinds work ok on smaller windows but will spoil the effect in this room with loads of quite large casing to fit them into. Comments (16)I have to agree with Crafty Countess about having a vinyl flooring. I would recommend Loose Lay by Karndean. The range comes in wood plank and stone tile effects, does not have to be glued down except around the edges of the room and damaged "tiles" can be easily replaced. They are made for commercial use, so are very durable and will retain their looks for years to come. From our own tenants, I've found that white or off- white works best. You'll never get a colour right for a tenant. In the past, we've hung curtains, which our tenants always ask to take down and put up their own. We've painted lightly fresh or richly cozy feature walls, which our tenants have asked to paint over. So we always use a neutral paint now. We allow our tenants to hang pictures, providing they repair and paint the holes when they move out and use wall stickups that they can take with them. I don’t think shutters will go with the overall vibe of the house, it’s a very modern build (photo from the back attached). I’m wondering if a plain but bright pink might work?...See More

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoSuch a lovely room. A lot of people do not dress patio doors, unless you get a lot of sun coming through. Just personal preference. My patio doors are south facing, so the room gets very hot in the summer. I have vertical blinds, which I hate by the way, but they do the job! I love roman blinds, classy and functional. If you go down the teal road I think roman blinds in teal would look good, tying in with your rug, cushions and new future teal wall. Something like this

Here it is with the curtains gone, changed the lamps for the limey green, it added a bit of light back in as the Teal is quite dark.
Painted the Rad the same colour as the wall, as CeleryGirl is right, it stands out too much. I think i'd turn the dining table lengthwise to match the sofa on the right and the sideboard on the left.
