Please comment on my shelf design & dressing.
Comments (1)Nice shelf but too busy with all those photos, etc. Think about fewer photos and take away the middle size vase. Less is more, particularly when the shelf itself serves as a piece of art....See MoreHouzz Live Chat - Planning, Fitting & Designing a Kitchen - 3pm Friday
Comments (61)A7. Bon Après midi Chloe, I have just recently returned from Southern France and have fallen in love with French rural design, I'm an avid fan of dinning tables for both family and friends to eat and be sociable, if your room is an open kitchen/dinner then embrace the room as one rather than trying to separate them. as for shapes, sizes, and materials clear the intended space mark off the options using either newspaper or masking tape leaving room to walk around don't forget where the chairs will be, this will help you decide how big or small the table can be and how it will fit around your existing furniture as for materials you cant go wrong with a sturdy wooden table with linin and a centre piece. all the best to everyone with their projects and thank you for your questions, until next time Adieu,...See MoreKitchen Layout - comments please (avoiding a corridor feel)
Comments (32)Reading all of this, and in particular redrawing the plans, I am beginning to feel maybe I am guilty of misleading with respect to what goes where. Probably by labeling with the names given by the kitchen supplier. It didn’t seem to matter when I was concerned about rows of units creating a corridor. On my original plan the island unit was shown with six pan drawers, three of them will probably be used for food storage; for things like rice, the three types of flour, the four types of sugar and the pasta that we use regularly. Also things like tinned foods and probably breakfast cereal, tea and coffee. The larder on the other hand will likely be used for storing things like multi-packs of tins and the large packets of rice that get decanted to a container as needed instead of going out to by another small bag. So, looking at all this perhaps my original design does cover all the bases as far as the working triangle / functional areas goes. What does anyone think? Still wondering about that corridor though....See MoreCan't make my kitchen fit! Any kitchen designers?
Comments (6)Sorry, I should have explained a little bit more. These are old units that I am simply moving. They are in very good condition. I have no problem with abandoning or not using some of the units. @ Jonathan that looks good. My intention is to get a 2400mm island as well. However, need to get these in first! @ Ellie I will do so when I have a chance a little later on! Thank you. The diagram I put up first shows the area where the units will go along with the window at the top. @rinq the larders are very tall. From memory they are approx 2.1m high. They both have openings of 1050mm for appliances. I havnt enquired about additional units but I'd much rather make the best out of what I have....See Moreminnie101
