Hi Daniel What a lovely light kitchen! I see you have decided to change the worktop which is a good idea if you don't like the existing (temporary fixes always seem to stay forever in my house, much better to go for a permanent solution if it's within budget!) if you like colours I think the suggested mustard yellow would be good, or teal works really well with white and wood. Also, you mentioned tiled wallpaper, how about some real tiles? I have a new kitchen too, it has very pale grey gloss units and a white quartz worktop and white walls (at the moment, eventually I'm planning to paint them dark grey). It's lovely but a little plain like yours. I found some lovely tiles which are white and grey which sounds very dull. It they introduce pattern which really ties it all together. I think you could choose some tiles with a nice pattern (they don't have to be brightly coloured if that's not your thing). You'd only need 2 rows, not all the way up to the upper units, introducing some pattern could really bring it to life. And perhaps some coloured chairs when you get round to thinking about furniture? Also, how about hanging a picture on the wall below the wall unit above the washing machine? I love a picture in a kitchen! Hope this helps, enjoy decorating your new home!

Hello Lucy8i8, My first thoughts is artwork. This is how I see your room: Thought 1: A large darkish brown wooden framed poster of a musical subject (whatever form that may take) that has splashes or flecks of white, cream and dark brown in it, if possible. If it has more colours, the better. To hang over the fireplace harmonising the colours of the room and the artwork as one. The larger, the better. Thought 2: A wallpaper mural just for the chimney breast wall. A design or photograph that can be whatever you're drawn to that makes you feel part of the image, not just 'looking' at an image. Again, colours are key, but incorporating some primary and secondary colours of the room if possible. Thought 3: If you have a particular subject that's meaningful to you, source artwork incorporating that subject, it will be more sentimental to you. Out of the 2 the dark blue is a better fit - I find the grey too cold and not matching the wallpaper. However, with these accents I think the best choice would be a dark brown unit - almost like the wall lamps. It would compliment the warm colour palette and ground the wallpaper a bit. Also, I would go for a modern tap style because the lamp & the wallpaper are very modern. Something with clean lines so it doesn't add much on top of the pattern. Hope that helps. A lot of people use this to protect paper in a dead flat finish but test it first. I can see you like panelling so that would also work. I must admit this pic is jumping out from your ideabook! I love the light you've picked, i just don't know whether I'd go for something a bit rounder to complement the taps?
