Will a brushed nickel tap look v different to stainless steel?
Comments (28)I like No2 simply because the end nozzle looks as though it has fewer grooves and other kitchen yuck catching spots - lol, that's just me. Quality-wise, have you copied and pasted the item names into a search engine, added the word 'reviews' and hit enter? I do that a lot on things I find on Amazon, and I've seen a lot of those things skyrocket in price only because as 5* rave reviews increase the seller (including items sold by Amazon) bumps the price up accordingly. Running a 'Net search brings back interesting results (verifying or negating the rave Amazon reviews) and I've seen good comparison sites - sometimes the price is so good I then do a search on reviews of the better priced non-Amazon seller. Surprise, surprise, some of those better priced sellers have very bad reviews for items arriving broken and Customer Service less than helpful. Agree with the others that when it comes to taps it pays to pay to avoid being hit with another purchase far sooner than expected, but I have to say I found a hand wash basin on Amazon for two thirds of RRP, no reviews - we took a chance and that basin is gorgeous. Came with everything needed, installed like a dream. The gamble worked out splendidly for us. And the day after I reviewed it, the seller bumped the price £15, lol! Still a bargain, people are buying it (and giving it rave reviews like mine) even though every time a new rave review is posted the price bumps up another £10-£15....See MoreCup style drawer pulls on cabinets?
Comments (9)I am from the school that a handle is a handle whether on a drawer or door. But picking the right one would make all the difference. I think brass cup ones would look great, we are considering these ones for our kitchen, not exactly cup but thought you might like to see them https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/614401657/america-dresser-drawer-pulls-knobs?ref=cart....See MoreMassive renovation project - floor plan dilemma 1 flat vs 2
Comments (71)Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing well wherever you are but I bet everyone's busy at this time of the year. I have been a busy bee myself and learned how to use Homestyler but I must say it's a painful and slow process. I have been obsessed with the floor plan of the small flat for the past week as the time has come to finalize it with the new team. We'll be around 2 months behind the plan which is fine. So I made the decision to not have a loft in the small flat because the floorplan I chose seems to work well with loads of storage. Please excuse some of the furniture such as the kitchen and the colour of the large cabinet, they will be white but Homestyler is quite limited so I had to chose from whatever they had in store. Let me know what you think of the floor plan please. I'm happy with it so far. I'll send you links to short panoramic videos Honestlyler created which was a godsend as that'd exactly what I wanted to see, at least approximately how my flat would look like. I really wanted visualise what to expect. The videos are pretty much the same but starting from different angles of the 30sqm flat. Comments (11)Congratulations on your first home. Before you sand the floor in the lounge check that it is actually wood as the pictures make it look like a laminate. Furthermore the pictures make the floor look nice as it is…. If you want to make the room lighter a different wall colour, a mirror and a rug will all do the job. Personally I would add carpet cleaning and pressure washing the front steps to the list as these will give you a big change. In older houses the wallpaper is sometimes better than the wall underneath. Instead of removing it consider painting over it. Kitchen- if you are going to paint this then do this last- it’s difficult to get a good finish so practice on the bedrooms before the kitchen. If it were my kitchen I would employ a joiner for half a day to add cornice and or a pelmet to make the kitchen look more expensive. And for me the wall tiles date the kitchen and could be replaced inexpensively. Utility room- it’s unusual for a modest house to have one- perhaps it was once a downstairs bathroom so you could add an extra wc in there? Or perhaps it’s the closest room to the back garden and French doors would gain you a useable room. And I agree with the earlier comment about doing the boring maintenance jobs- I’m afraid it’s necessary to identify the cause of the mould to stop it getting worse- most likely it’s a leaking gutter, a drain clogged with leaves, soil banked up against the house….. it possible it’s coming from next door....See More- 7 years ago
