So we have moved into our dream home after a year and on the whole we are really happy with it. However, our builder, who generally has been great has made a big mistake. In his simple excel calculations he did not account for approx £40k of work and our approx £200k contract does not include this oversight. Now that he has realised, he is trying to claw back as much as possible. He is asking for approx £11k above and over what was agreed and claiming his oversight is now forcing him to ask for extras he would have otherwise absorbed.
Would be great to get a thoughts on the matter as we are torn between getting another Ioan or telling him we need to start legal proceedings.
Our entire life savings have gone into this and we feel we are being asked to foot some of the bill for his silly mistake.
