kitchen cabinets too dark, how can i create a lighter illusion
Comments (3)Hello Laura, Well if you can't find a solution.. dark cabinets are really fashionable at the moment.. Have a look at these for inspiration.. The other thing of course is that maybe you could paint the walls a lighter colour to compliment.. One thing I would say is don't spray paint cabinets.. Always use a brush and chalky matt low sheen paint for best results.. : ))...See Moretoo white
Comments (11)Hi Patrice67! I understand what you mean by 'the wood makes the white whiter' but its not necessary bad and can look refreshing except if your mirror is looking rather heavy. I do think that hanging a mirror from the ceiling as you mentioned and as in pictures above will make a positive difference and give the bathroom an 'airy' look if thats the effect you are after. Not sure about the rasty chain though unless its black and looks good together with the mirror (need to see those to have an opinion). Another option I thought of is is to hang shelves or actually put a towel ladder, they look great and give a modern refreshing look (see pictures above for examples). And you still can hang a medium sized mirror to make the space look bigger. You mentioned the floor will be carpeted? what kind of carpet? Generally speaking I believe that once the renovation is done it will look great and I really like the white subway tile. It gives you a lot of options in terms of styling your bathroom....See Moreneed help with my bedroom- have too many ideas!!
Comments (3)Hi. What kind of budget do you have? Do you have any furniture at all or a carpet? I think if you're going for a dark scheme it does tend to automatically look expensive which helps. I'd get yourself on eBay. Have only had a quick look but you can pick up a french bed cheaply (you can buy a divan base in ikea) and I'd match with marble top cabinets. The bed can be painted if need be. I might look at second hand or antique shops for a chair that you can re-cover yourself. eBay is also good for cushions in designer/high street fabrics if you plough through. Maybe try TK Max for bedding, lights etc. Sainsbury's sometime do some good accessories too. Ikea also sell some velvet curtains which may be worth looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-French-Louis-XV-Style-Carved-Solid-Wood-Double-Bed-Frame-/201791001841?hash=item2efbae54f1:g:yoEAAOSwImRYe49v http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOUIS-XV-STYLE-FRENCH-MAHOGANY-PAIR-OF-MARBLE-TOPPED-BEDSIDE-CABINETS-001377-/361860310374?hash=item54408e2566:g:kiQAAOSwJ7RYW-Gl...See MoreHelp!
