Hi ! It's something that with proper planing can all be sorted ! It's just a case of sitting down with it all drawn to scale and working out what goes where!! Eg to claim your loo back and add laundry area under the stairs might be an option. Then add cleaning supplies cupboard in the loo of a more proportional size etc ! Drop down table might be a solution for kitchen ? Or fixed bar rather than table... I would opt for a simple roman blind fitted into the frame and following the sloped shape at the top. It would have a triangular flat portion at the top until you got to the right side lowest corner and then cascade down from there on the horizontal. Hope this makes sense as tricky to describe without sketching. You could have a metal geared chain at the side to operate it. If there are any children around keep the chain up at a very high level to avoid any accidents. You can get retainers to keep them at a safe level. (This has now become H&S regulations in the UK - Google 'child safety regulations with blinds' if you need more info).

so after many months it's done, thanks to all that posted here, you help made me think about things like the necessity for a proper dining table. the room has turned out great, I've yet to used the dining table as it was literally finished on Saturday. Definitely. My original kitchen was developer’s kitchen —ie, it photographed well but did not function. The only place to put a table in the kitchen itself would have been in front of the back door, which is itself a natural thoroughfare from the open plan living room. Now I have a lovely breakfast bar/peninsula facing the brightest part of the kitchen, and I can easily spend hours there over breakfast, brunch or coffee. Dinner I tend to eat in front of the tv, and when I’ve visitors the main table in the dining room is used.
