Completely agree. I used to live on a road of self coloured rendered houses. They were about 20years old and were in pretty good order. One neighbour painted their house and completely ruined it.
Aesthetically, unless using an approved paint from the manufacturer it tends to look poor. But the biggest issue is that when a render is infested like this you have to deal with the issue. Painting over it is only a quick fix, the growth will continue to come through the paint and return
